Many people have a special liking for red wine, because red wine not only has a mellow taste and unique flavor, but also has certain benefits for everyone's skin. Drinking a moderate amount of red wine is also very helpful for the human body to relax. People who often drink red wine will know that red wine corks are all made of wood, so it is more troublesome to open them and usually requires a corkscrew. So, what should you do if the red wine cannot be opened? 1. Butterfly wine opener The butterfly corkscrew is perhaps the most popular tool for opening wine at home. These corkscrews are very easy to use and are perfect for wine lovers. Simply align the tip of the corkscrew with the middle of the cork and apply light pressure. Turn the handle on the top, but make sure the wings are free. As you dig deeper into the cork, the wings will stand up. To remove the cork, hold the bottle and press down on these wings. 2. Seahorse Knife If you’ve ever had a bottle of wine in a restaurant, you’ve probably seen a seahorse corkscrew. This device folds up to fit in a drawer or pocket and includes a corkscrew, a slotted lever and a small serrated knife for cutting foil. Using a corkscrew takes some practice, but it is an elegant way to open a bottle of wine. Open the corkscrew and align it with the center of the cork. Twist the entire assembly and push the corkscrew into the cork as far as it will go. Tilt the handle so you can rest the end of the lever on the lip of the wine bottle. The groove on the lever should sit comfortably on the lip of the bottle, but you can use your hand to keep it from slipping. Grip the bottle firmly by the neck and lift the handle to remove the cork. 3. Ah Sos or Butler's Friends The Ah Sos or Butler's Friends is an unusual device in that it has two long blades and no corkscrew. This opener was said to be popular with Victorian housekeepers because it allowed them to remove the cork without detection, sample the wine, and replace the cork again. You can also use it to open wine. Insert the longest blade along the edge of the cork, against the bottle. Push down until the other blade is flush with the surface of the cork. Push the other blade down along the opposite side of the cork and move the device until both blades are completely in the bottle. Pull firmly to remove the cork from the bottle. 4. Rabbit Bottle Opener A recently invented wine opening device, the Rabbit Corkscrew is one of the easiest ways to open a bottle of wine. It lacks the elegance of other devices, but it makes up for it with its convenience. Tighten the cork tightly against the bottle and make sure the lever is in the upward position. Pull the upper rod all the way down until the cork drills into the bottle stopper. Holding the bottle firmly, push the lever back to the upward position to remove the cork. |
