What causes smog

What causes smog

The environment we live in is very important. A good environment is good for the human body. If the environment is polluted, it will affect human health. Haze has a great impact on the environment. Haze is a mixture of gases. Haze is particularly harmful to the human body. Many people don’t know what causes haze, and don’t know what methods to use to prevent the occurrence of haze. What causes haze? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Smog is a mixture of fog and haze, with more fog components when the humidity is high in the morning and evening.

During the day, when humidity is low, haze is the main factor, and the relative humidity is between 80% and 90%. Among them, fog is a natural weather phenomenon, with water vapor in the air. Although dust serves as condensation nuclei, it is generally non-toxic and harmless; the core substances of haze are smoke, dust and other substances suspended in the air, the relative humidity of the air is less than 80%, and the color is yellow. The gas can directly enter and adhere to the lower respiratory tract and lung lobes of the human body, causing harm to human health. The formation of smog weather is mainly due to man-made environmental pollution, coupled with natural conditions such as low temperature and low wind, which make it difficult for pollutants to spread.

2. The main reasons for the formation of haze weather are as follows

1. The relative humidity of the air near the ground in these areas is relatively high, the ground is dusty, and the people and vehicles on the ground stir up the dust;

2. There is no obvious cold air activity, the wind is small, and the atmosphere is relatively stable. Due to the stagnation of air flow, tiny particles in the air gather and float in the air;

3. The sky is clear and cloudless, which is conducive to radiation cooling at night, causing the air near the ground with relatively high humidity to be saturated and condensed to form fog.

4. Automobile exhaust is the main pollutant emission. In recent years, there are more and more cars in cities, and automobile exhaust is a factor of smog;

5. Secondary pollution caused by factories;

6. Pollutants such as CO2 emitted from winter heating.

Large-scale haze weather mainly occurs in large-scale atmospheric circulation situations with weak cold air and good water vapor conditions, with calm or light winds at low altitudes near the ground.

3. Notes

Due to the high humidity and water vapor in haze weather, fog droplets provide adsorption and reaction sites to accelerate the conversion of reactive gaseous pollutants into liquid particulate components. At the same time, particulate matter can easily act as condensation nuclei to accelerate the formation of haze. The two interact with each other and quickly form pollution.
