Many people like to keep fish and regard it as a pleasure. There are many types of ornamental fish, and tropical fish is one of the more popular ones because many tropical fish look quite beautiful. However, although tropical fish are beautiful, they are difficult to raise, especially in winter. If you cannot master the following techniques, it is easy for the tropical fish to die in the winter. 1. Controlling water temperature is the most important Water temperature is the most important condition for tropical fish to survive in winter. The most suitable water temperature for tropical fish is 20-30℃. But different tropical fish have different requirements for water temperature. Some fish, such as guppies, can tolerate low temperatures of around 10°C, while some fish, such as angelfish, will die when the water temperature is below 18°C. However, if the water temperature is too high, fungi in the water will multiply in large numbers, which will also be harmful to the health of the fish. There are two main methods to control water temperature: natural control and artificial control. Natural control is to place the fish tank in a sunny room to increase the water temperature. The way to artificially control water temperature is to use tools such as stoves to heat it. Currently, many people use heating rods to control water temperature. In addition, using incandescent bulbs for heating is also a good method, which can not only increase the water temperature, but also make the aquatic plants in the fish tank grow well. 2. Use the heating rod correctly When buying a heating rod, choose one with good quality and don’t just think about saving money. The wattage of the heater should be determined based on the size of the fish tank. If a large tank is equipped with a low-wattage heating rod, the heating rod will always be working, which will shorten its service life. It is best to prepare a spare heating rod at home so that it can be replaced in time when it is damaged. If the indicator light of the heater rod is always on, you should pay attention and observe the thermometer closely, as this may be a sign that the heater rod is about to be damaged. If the heating rod is damaged, cut off the power supply before handling it. 3. Fish also need to be nourished in winter Spring is a great season for tropical fish to breed. If they are malnourished or hungry for too long in winter, it will have an adverse effect on their spring breeding. Therefore, it is very important to nourish tropical fish in winter. The foods that can be fed in winter include earthworms, glutinous rice worms, mealworms and various feeds. When feeding live bait, be sure to wash the bait repeatedly and leave it at room temperature for a period of time to avoid it being too cold and causing gastrointestinal discomfort to the fish. If you feed frozen fish worms, be careful to return the worms to room temperature before feeding, and never put frozen worms directly into the fish tank. Enteritis in fish is very common in winter. Once tropical fish become isolated from the group, you should pay attention to the condition of the fish's anus and feces to ensure early detection and treatment. |
