The sputum is yellow, thick and has blood streaks

Many people spit when they have sore throats or other reasons. There are bacteria in the sputum. Spitting in public is very impolite. We should spit into a trash can, which is healthy and hygienic. If we can observe the sputum we spit, we can judge our physical condition. So what does it mean if the sputum is yellow, thick and has blood in it? Let’s learn about it with the editor today.

What tests are needed if there is blood in the sputum? For young people, blood in the sputum may be caused by lung diseases such as bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiectasis, and tuberculosis.

But if a person over 40 years old has blood in his sputum, he should be alert to the occurrence of lung cancer. You should go to the hospital in time for an X-ray chest examination and sputum exfoliative cytology examination. These two methods are simple, economical, less painful, and have a higher positive rate. Bloody sputum (sputum with blood streaks or blood clots) may have the following conditions:

First, the presence of bright red blood in the sputum is often seen in tuberculosis or bronchiectasis, and sometimes this phenomenon can also occur when there is inflammation in the pharynx.

Second, black bloody sputum is often seen in pulmonary infarction.

Third, coughing up bloody foamy sputum may be seen in pulmonary edema.

Fourth, if there is blood in sputum for a long time or it is accompanied by chest pain, fatigue, and weight loss, you should be alert to bronchial lung cancer. Generally, lung X-rays can provide a preliminary diagnosis or exclude a diagnosis.

Bronchitis refers to a chronic, nonspecific inflammation of the trachea, bronchial mucosa and surrounding tissues. The main cause of bronchitis is repeated infection by viruses and bacteria, which results in chronic nonspecific inflammation of the bronchi. When the temperature drops, the small blood vessels in the respiratory tract spasm and ischemia, and the defense function decreases, which are conducive to the onset of disease; chronic stimulation such as smoke, dust, and polluted atmosphere can also cause the disease; smoking causes bronchospasm, mucosal mutations, reduced ciliary movement, and increased mucus secretion, which is conducive to infection; allergic factors also have a certain relationship.
