Bladder fibrosis

Bladder fibrosis

The bladder plays a very important role in the human body. Its main function is to store urine for the human body. If a person feels that they have to hold their urine, it is probably because there is too much urine in the bladder that needs to be released urgently. However, if the human body holds urine for a long time, it will cause great harm to the bladder. Have you heard of a bladder disease called bladder fibrosis? Next, I will introduce to you what bladder fibrosis is.

1. Causes of bladder fibrosis

1. Vascular and lymphatic obstruction. It has been assumed that bladder fibrosis is caused by pelvic surgery or infection that causes obstruction of lymphatic vessels in the bladder wall and embolic vasculitis or persistent arteriolar spasm caused by vasculitis, but there is insufficient evidence.

2. Infection. It has been suggested that bacterial, viral or fungal infection may be the cause of bladder submucous fibrosis (IC), but there has been no report on the detection of the above three pathogens in patients with bladder submucous fibrosis (IC).

3. Neurohumoral factors. Mast cells increase in the bladder lamina propria and detrusor muscle of patients with bladder submucosal fibrosis (IC). Cold, neuropeptides, drugs, trauma, toxins, etc. can activate mast cells and release vasoactive substances that can sensitize sensory neurons, which further activate mast cells by releasing neurotransmitters or neuropeptides. Mast cells can also directly cause vasodilation or bladder mucosal damage, causing inflammation.

4. Immune factors. The disease responds well to cortisol treatment. Anti-bladder mucosal antibodies can be detected in the blood of some patients. Many scholars have also found that autoimmune antibodies or immune complexes produced against vascular antigens are deposited in the vascular wall and activate the complement system, which is involved in the pathogenesis of bladder submucosal fibrosis (IC).

5. Mucosal permeability. It is speculated that bladder submucosal fibrosis (IC) is caused by the dysfunction of the bladder epithelium, which increases its permeability and allows urine to leak into the bladder wall through the transitional epithelium, causing bladder inflammation. Some people have confirmed that the TH protein in the bladder surface epithelium of patients with bladder submucosal fibrosis (IC) increases, suggesting that the permeability of the mucosa increases.

Treatment of bladder fibrosis

1. Eliminate the cause of the disease.

2. The use of glucocorticoids and cytotoxic immunosuppressants can alleviate symptoms of immune diseases.

3. Symptomatic treatment such as diuresis, antihypertensive, correction of water and electrolyte imbalance, and correction of acidosis. Controlling infection or correcting anemia can often improve symptoms and prevent or delay the progression of chronic kidney disease.

4. Dialysis therapy includes hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis to replace the excretion function of the kidneys, prolong the patient's life, improve the patient's quality of life and work ability, and can also serve as preoperative preparation for kidney transplantation.

5. Transurethral resection of fibrous tissue.
