As we all know, many pieces of furniture actually contain a certain amount of formaldehyde, so if you plan to decorate a house for your children, you must strictly select decoration materials to reduce the presence of formaldehyde. Well, among a variety of products, many people will choose floor tiles for floor decoration. So, do floor tiles contain formaldehyde? In fact, floor tiles as a product generally do not contain formaldehyde.
Source 1: Artificial boards such as plywood, blockboard, medium-density fiberboard and particleboard used for interior decoration. Formaldehyde has strong adhesion and can also enhance the hardness of boards and prevent insects and corrosion. Therefore, the adhesive currently used in the production of artificial boards is urea-formaldehyde resin with formaldehyde as the main component. The residual and unreacted formaldehyde in the boards will gradually be released into the surrounding environment, resulting in excessive formaldehyde content in indoor air. Source 2: Furniture made of artificial boards. In pursuit of profits, some furniture manufacturers use substandard panels and non-standard manufacturing processes, turning furniture into formaldehyde emission stations. A comparative test conducted by the Beijing Consumers Association showed that among 60 medium-density furniture samples sampled in Beijing, 29 had formaldehyde levels that exceeded national standards, with a non-compliance rate of 48.23%. Source three: Various decorative materials containing formaldehyde, such as white latex, foam plastic, paint and coatings, etc. Currently, the problem with unqualified latex adhesives is that the free formaldehyde content exceeds the standard. Among them, some white latex adhesives are nominally formaldehyde-free, but the actual formaldehyde content exceeds the standard by nearly 5 times. Latex adhesives are widely used in wood engineering and wall treatment in decoration and renovation. In particular, formaldehyde enclosed in wall latex is difficult to remove. Source 4: Interior decoration textiles, including bedding, wall coverings, wallpaper, chemical fiber carpets, curtains and fabric furniture. In textile production, in order to increase wrinkle resistance, waterproofness and fire resistance, some additives containing formaldehyde are often added, which will release formaldehyde during use. Recently, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine randomly inspected 149 types of bedding, of which 68 were qualified, with a sampling pass rate of only 45.6%. In some products that exceed the standard, the actual measured formaldehyde content is nearly 50 times the standard limit. |
