How to deal with pencil puncture wounds

③If the object that pierces the wound is small, you can use a ring-shaped pad or other gauze to pad around the wound.

④Cover the wound with clean gauze, and then apply pressure with a bandage, but do not press on the wound.

⑤ Send to hospital for treatment promptly.

Precautions

After a finger puncture, if the skin is intact and not damaged, you can soak it in cold water or use a cold towel for cold compress. If conditions permit, you can also break the ice cubes, put them in a cloth cover, and apply local cold compress. The purpose of cold compress is to cause capillaries to contract, reduce local congestion, tissue swelling and subcutaneous congestion, and have a hemostatic effect; it can inhibit the activity of tissue cells, increase the contact pain threshold of local tissues, reduce the sensitivity of nerve endings, and have an analgesic effect; it can also reduce the activity of bacteria and tissues, and has an anti-inflammatory effect, preventing the spread of inflammation. However, when applying cold compress, you should be reminded that you should always observe the local skin for discoloration, numbness, purpleness, etc. If so, remove the ice pack immediately to prevent frostbite.

After the acute phase of the puncture (usually 24-48 hours), you can use hot compresses, such as a hot water bottle. The temperature of a hot water bag is generally 60-70℃ (the temperature for children and the elderly should be lower, generally 48-50℃ is appropriate). Fill the bag with water to 1/2 or 1/3, expel the air in the bag, tighten the stopper, and put it into the bag. The purpose of hot compress is to: dilate local small blood vessels, increase blood circulation, reduce congestion of deep tissues, and play an analgesic role; it can enhance tissue metabolism and the phagocytic function of white blood cells in the blood, and promote the absorption of inflammation; it can also relax muscles and tendons, thereby assisting joint movement. While applying hot compress, you must also pay attention to the condition of the skin to prevent burns. After the above treatment methods, combined with some local medications, such as: Haodekuai aerosol, safflower alcohol and other blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs, generally after 2-3 days, the pain and swelling of the fingers will be reduced or disappear, and about a week later, the function of the fingers will gradually recover.
