Can you drink the well water?

Well water is a common source of drinking water in rural areas. Since rural areas are not as developed as cities, almost every household in rural areas uses well water as their main source of drinking water. So whether well water can be drunk is a certainty. According to common sense, well water is drinkable, but there are also opposing voices. Some people think that well water has not been treated, so the mineral content is too high and it is not hygienic enough. Therefore, whether it can be drunk depends on the individual. The specific opinions are as follows.

1. Well water needs to be tested before drinking. Well water testing can test the mineral content and microbial bacteria indicators of well water. Well water with unqualified water quality can cause harm to the human body. Many people suffer from kidney stones due to long-term drinking of well water, most of which are caused by excessively high levels of a certain indicator in the well water. Drinking water testing standards have clear standards for drinking water. Drinking water is the basis of human life, and drinking water testing standards strictly control the quality of drinking water.

2. Well water is natural water, rich in minerals, can eliminate heat and detoxify, and is beneficial for treating red and hot urine and excessive astringency. However, because well water is directly exposed to the outside world and has no pipe protection, it is easily contaminated and is not safe drinking water. Be sure to boil it before drinking. In addition, since the water is not treated and has a high mineral content, drinking it year round can easily cause stones.

3. That depends on what kind of well water you drink. If the well is deep, it is best to drink less. If it is a deep well far away from pollution, then it is perfect because this kind of well water contains many minerals and is very good for the human body, but it must be boiled before drinking.

4. There is no harm, because deep well water contains pure natural mineral fats needed by the human body, and it should be much better than some beverages without quality assurance. As far as I understand, well water is better than treated tap water, whether raw or boiled.

5. Well water cannot be used as drinking water. Although the groundwater quality is generally good and some well water looks quite clear, the ammonia nitrogen index exceeds the standard, so it is classified as Category V water. This is true even for deep groundwater below 100 meters, and ordinary well water drawn from shallow groundwater is certainly not drinkable.

6. Groundwater refers to groundwater below 100 meters deep. The water that ordinary residents draw from wells comes from shallow groundwater, which is more polluted than groundwater below 100 meters and is therefore less suitable for drinking. Residents' drinking water should still be obtained from tap water to ensure safety and reliability.

7. Well water is groundwater, which is cleaner than tap water in a sense. Because it is less polluted (unlike surface water), although tap water is treated to meet standards, that is relative and is formulated by the country based on standards acceptable to the human body or the level that can be achieved by treatment technology. The biggest characteristic of well water is its high hardness, which means it contains high content of calcium and magnesium ions. However, this does no harm to the human body. Nowadays, we are still promoting calcium supplementation. It will be harmful to the aluminum kettle you use to boil water because it is more prone to scale.
