How to prepare the mantis shrimp dipping sauce

The seasoning actually plays a very important role in whether a dish is delicious, and the same is true for mantis shrimp. For mantis shrimps cooked in a heavier way such as stir-frying, there is no need for dipping sauce. However, for mantis shrimps that are lightly steamed or boiled, preparing a suitable seasoning can greatly enhance the overall taste of the shrimp. So today I’m going to tell you how to prepare a good dipping sauce so that everyone can eat the most delicious mantis shrimp.

How to prepare the mantis shrimp dip?

Dipping method 1:

Ingredients: 1 pound of live shrimp, 10 grams each of shredded green onion, shredded ginger, and shredded red pepper. 10 ml cooking wine, 5 g salt, 5 g sugar, 5 ml soy sauce, 15 ml broth, 10 ml oil.

Method: Heat 5 ml of oil in a pan, add scallions, ginger and red pepper shreds, stir-fry until fragrant, add broth, salt (3 grams), white pepper, soy sauce, adjust the taste and serve in a bowl.

Bring half a pot of water to a boil, put in live shrimps after it boils, add cooking wine and the remaining salt and oil, wait until the shrimp tails open and turn red, then remove them from the pot and put them on a plate, dip them in the sauce.

Dipping sauce method 2:

Put seafood soy sauce and appropriate amount of mustard in the sauce dish, mix well and add some chopped green onion for decoration;

Dipping sauce method three:

Mash (or cut) two or three cloves of garlic into garlic paste + a little rice wine + a little aged vinegar + appropriate amount of light soy sauce.

Add more red pepper oil as needed.

The approximate ratio is: 1/2 teaspoon of rice wine + 1 teaspoon of aged vinegar + 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce.

(1 tsp = 5 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml)

You can use rice wine or yellow wine. If you use white wine, you should reduce the amount because it is too spicy.

Cooking wine is not recommended (it tastes bad).

Other recommended dips:

1: Light soy sauce + Japanese mustard

2: Garlic + salt + hot oil + soy sauce + sugar

3. Add chopped green onion + chopped ginger + salt + hot oil + soy sauce + sugar

4: Add oil to the green pepper rings and stir-fry them in a pan + salt + light soy sauce + sugar.

Steamed mantis shrimp recipe:

1. Wash the mantis shrimp first. You may want to soak it in a small amount of salt and then wash it thoroughly.

2. Put the washed mantis shrimp into a container, add salt, sugar and cooking wine and marinate for about 10 minutes. To make it taste better. Of course, it is not necessary to marinate it. Some people prefer the freshness of the mantis shrimp itself and do not like to add too much seasoning.

3. Wash and cut the green pepper into shreds for later use. Take another small bowl, pour in vinegar, add minced ginger, chopped green onion, sesame oil, etc. to make a sauce for later use.

4. Add appropriate amount of water to the steamer and bring to a boil over high heat.

5. Put the mantis shrimp on a plate and put it into the steamer. Place the mantis shrimp flat on the steamer, sprinkle some ginger slices on top, cover with the lid, and steam for 5 minutes. It is best to place the mantis shrimp with its back facing down and its abdomen facing up to reduce the loss of freshness.

6. After steaming, remove from heat, add appropriate amount of oil, heat it, add peppercorns and stir-fry until fragrant, turn off the heat, and pour it on the shrimps.

7. The steamed mantis shrimp can be eaten directly. Cut off both sides of the mantis shrimp with scissors. Peel off the shell and you'll get a piece of meat. It's very simple. When eating, just dip it in the sauce you prepared previously. In fact, the meat of mantis shrimp is sweet and delicious even without dipping it in anything, but because it is cold in nature, it is usually recommended to dip it in ginger vinegar juice.
