What does high d-dimer mean

What does high d-dimer mean

A high D-dimer level indicates an increase in the D-dimer level in the body, which is a test for coagulation function. It may be due to thrombosis or coagulation dysfunction, including cerebral infarction or pulmonary embolism.

1. Thrombus: Thrombus can occur in multiple locations, such as cerebral thrombosis or lower limb venous thrombosis. When the thrombus dissolves itself in the body, the D-dimer level will usually be high. The specific location of the thrombus needs to be identified in time. The legs are more likely to occur.

2. Coagulation dysfunction: When the coagulation function changes, it will lead to high D-dimer, which is a common physiological reaction. It mainly indicates that the coagulation function is in a hyperactive state, which may increase the incidence of thrombotic diseases. Some are gestational hypertension, and there is also preeclampsia.

3. Cerebral infarction and cerebral embolism: If the blood is in a state of hypercoagulability, it is particularly prone to thromboembolic diseases, including myocardial infarction or cerebral infarction, as well as cerebral embolism. The normal return of blood will be affected to a certain extent, resulting in local brain tissue blood supply disorders. At the same time, brain tissue ischemic and hypoxic lesions and necrosis will occur, affecting neurological function. A comprehensive examination is needed to determine the specific cause, and then targeted treatment is required.
