I get acne after shaving

Just like girls, boys also need to pay attention to their appearance. Although most boys don’t take care of themselves and put on exquisite makeup every morning like girls, they also care about whether their faces are clean. They are also very irritable about the appearance of pimples. Boys need to shave frequently after they reach a certain age. Some boys find that they start to get acne after shaving. Why is this?

Acne after shaving is caused by wounds or damage to hair follicles, which leads to inflammation.

The occurrence of acne is closely related to factors such as excessive sebum secretion, blockage of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles, bacterial infection and inflammatory response. After entering puberty, the level of androgens, especially testosterone, in the human body increases rapidly, promoting the development of sebaceous glands and producing a large amount of sebum. At the same time, abnormal keratinization of the sebaceous gland ducts of the hair follicles causes blockage of the ducts, hindering the excretion of sebum and forming keratin plugs, also known as micro-acne. Various microorganisms, especially Propionibacterium acnes, multiply in large numbers in the hair follicles. The lipase produced by Propionibacterium acnes breaks down sebum to produce free fatty acids, while also attracting inflammatory cells and mediators, ultimately inducing and aggravating the inflammatory response.

1. Pay attention to diet. Patients with folliculitis should avoid eating spicy, greasy and irritating foods. Sweets that can cause getting angry, such as melon seeds and chocolate, are also not allowed. Avoid drinking alcohol, eat more vegetables and fruits to increase vitamins, and keep bowel movements smooth. Bitter melon, chrysanthemum tea and mung bean soup are all good foods for reducing heat and can be eaten during illness.

2. Maintain a regular work and rest schedule. In addition to diet, irregular work and rest schedule will also hinder the treatment of folliculitis. During the illness, you should maintain a regular work and rest schedule and do not stay up late.

3. Avoid scratching. When suffering from folliculitis, scratching is a major cause of secondary infection of folliculitis. Do not scratch. If you scratch unconsciously when sleeping at night, you can wear gloves before going to bed. This way, scratching will not cause your fingernails to scratch the skin.

4. Oral medication. Sometimes patients with folliculitis have to resort to medication for treatment. They can take medications to reduce inflammation and prevent infection.

5. For external use, oral medications combined with external application medications can have a very good effect. There are two types of external use medications: sprays and gels. Sprays are more suitable for preventing hair from growing and are easy to use, while gels are a little more troublesome. When applying external medications, you usually need help from others because you cannot see places like your head by yourself.

6. Relax. Sometimes when you are under emotional stress such as work pressure, folliculitis is more difficult to treat. At this time, you need to adjust yourself. You can go hiking or play to relieve stress.
