Where should I massage when a child has diarrhea

Children's gastrointestinal tract is not fully developed, so they will have diarrhea if they are not careful. Stomachache is very painful for children, and some children cannot describe where it hurts. It is best to go to the hospital for X-ray treatment. If the child's diarrhea is not very serious, it can be relieved by massage, but where should you massage when the child has diarrhea? Perhaps everyone knows this, that is around the child's belly button.

1 Preparation for baby diarrhea massage

Before massaging your child, be sure to prepare baby oil and apply it evenly on the massage area. It is best to consult a doctor before use. If you don’t want to buy ordinary baby oil, you can also use coconut oil, tea tree oil, etc. to massage your baby.

2 Abdominal massage

Technique: Parents can spread their palms, place them on the baby's abdomen, and gently rub counterclockwise for about 50 times, or for about 2 minutes. This massage technique can help children stop diarrhea and promote gastrointestinal function. The doctor reminds that you must rub counterclockwise, that is, against the direction of the intestines (see the picture below).

3. Back-pushing technique: The key to the method is to rub the baby's spine from bottom to top until the skin turns slightly red and warm. Diarrhea in children damages menstrual fluids. Qi, blood and menstrual fluids have the same origin, so it is necessary to replenish qi and blood for the baby. The spine belongs to the Du channel in traditional Chinese medicine, which controls the yang of the whole body. Pushing the back can replenish yang energy, strengthen the spleen and kidney, and enhance the child's resistance.

4 Push up the seven vertebrae . Position: Located in the middle of the lumbar sacrum, on the line from the Mingmen to the coccyx. Technique: Use the side of your thumb or the pads of your index and middle fingers to push up from the baby's sacrum (coccyx) to the waist, which is the Mingmen (Du meridian point, in the depression below the second lumbar vertebra). When massaging, the technique can be a little heavier, and it is moderate to massage until the skin becomes warm. This is a better way to stop diarrhea (see the picture below). Note: Push downward to treat constipation and other symptoms

5. Rub the Banmen point . Position: on the plane of the thenar eminence of the palm. Technique: The Banmen point is on the plane of the thenar eminence of the palm. Parents can use the tip of their right thumb to rub the baby's thenar eminence clockwise about 50 times. Massaging this area can strengthen the spleen and promote digestion, enhance intestinal peristalsis, and improve the baby's intestinal function (see the picture below).

6. Kidney-tonifying position: the outermost section of the little finger. Technique: The parent presses the outermost section of the baby's little finger and rotates it clockwise for 150 to 300 times. Here is the reaction point of the baby's kidney meridian. The kidney governs water, so massaging this area can replenish kidney water and prevent the baby from dehydration due to diarrhea (see the picture below).

7 Things to note when giving your baby massage

1. Correct massage time: Pay special attention to the time when massaging your baby. For example, when the baby has just finished a meal, he needs time to digest the food. Massage at this time may easily lead to problems. The best time to massage is before bath time, as this is when babies will find it fun.

2. Create a good environment Creating a good environment can make your baby enjoy massage time more and have more connection with you. You can play music or use toys, or you can have a private chat with your baby.

3. Use correct techniques, move gently during massage, and avoid too much pressure, especially on the head. Avoid applying too much force, even when massaging your back and abdomen. Move in the right direction, not the wrong one.

4. Massage should be done regularly. Massage should not be done every week or every two weeks, but should be a daily routine. Massaging your baby for 15 to 30 minutes every day can help instill this habit in your child. If you can't do it every day, at least 3 to 4 days a week.

8 Supplement: How to prevent baby from diarrhea

1. Pay attention to food hygiene: strengthen health education, and strictly manage water and food hygiene. Food should be fresh and clean. Any spoiled food should not be fed to children, and eating utensils must be disinfected.

2. Promote breastfeeding: Breast milk is the most suitable food for infants under six months old, and feeding infants on demand should be strongly encouraged. Human milk contains IgA, which can neutralize Escherichia coli enterotoxin and prevent infection with Escherichia coli.

3. Add complementary foods on time: When adding complementary foods to children, you must pay attention to increasing the amount gradually from a small amount to a large amount so that the baby has an adaptation process; from thin to thick, first drink rice soup, and gradually transition to porridge and soft rice; from fine to coarse, such as when adding fruit, start by feeding juice and then eat fruit puree. Try adding egg yolks, fish paste, and tender tofu at five months; after seven months, you can add nutritious foods that are suitable for digestion and absorption, such as fish, minced meat, vegetables, biscuits, etc., and gradually make necessary preparations for weaning, but weaning in the summer should be avoided. When gradually adding foods, it is best to get used to one food before adding another, rather than adding several at the same time. If a child is sick, the other food should not be added temporarily. It is not advisable to force-feed when you have a loss of appetite.

4. Strengthen physical fitness: You should strengthen outdoor activities, improve the ability to adapt to the natural environment, pay attention to physical exercise for children, strengthen physical fitness, improve the body's resistance, and avoid infection with various diseases.

5. Avoid adverse stimulation: Children should prevent excessive fatigue, fright or excessive mental stress in their daily lives.

6. Strengthen care for weak infants and young children: Children with malnutrition, rickets, or those who are weak after illness should be given better care, pay attention to food hygiene, and avoid various infections. Mild diarrhea should be treated promptly to avoid it becoming severe diarrhea.

7. Avoid cross infection: Infectious diarrhea can easily cause an epidemic. Newborns, childcare institutions and hospitals should pay attention to disinfection and isolation. Children with diarrhea and carriers should be isolated and treated, and their feces should be disinfected.

8. Reasonable use of antibiotics: Avoid long-term abuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics to prevent intestinal flora imbalance, leading to the growth of drug-resistant bacteria and causing enteritis.
