Why is my throat always dry?

Normally, the human body has a normal metabolism, and most of the human body is water, so people need to replenish a lot of water in time in daily life, instead of waiting until they are really thirsty to remember the need to drink water. But if you often feel dry throat, it is not normal. Other contributing factors to the illness need to be taken into account. So why does the throat always feel dry, and how do we solve it?

The most common cause of a dry throat is environmental. The winter climate in the north is dry, and the heating makes the indoor air stagnant, which causes the indoor humidity to drop significantly. It is also most likely to cause symptoms such as dry and itchy throat. At this time, you can consider using necessary methods to increase the indoor humidity, such as using a humidifier, or placing a basin of water in the room, etc.

If the indoor humidity is improved but the symptoms do not improve, you should consider some disease factors, such as colds, swollen tonsils, pharyngitis, etc. When you have problems such as dry throat, do not blindly use various medications to treat them on your own. The key to solving the problem is to find the cause and treat it through the cause. For some dry and itchy throats with unknown causes, you can drink more chrysanthemum tea, rock sugar pear water, raw radish juice and other beverages in daily life, because they all have the effect of clearing the throat and moistening the lungs.

You should quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, because both tobacco and alcohol are irritants that can easily damage the throat. So if you want to avoid dry throat, you should first stop smoking and drinking. Of course, quitting smoking mainly depends on willpower; sometimes, if you really can't bear it, you can consider quitting smoking tea to help you quit smoking, which may be able to achieve twice the result with half the effort.

Do not eat spicy foods such as chili peppers and garlic, or spicy and stimulating foods such as malatang and hot pot, as these have potential catalytic effects on dry throat.

Make sure to drink more than 6 glasses of water a day. Don't drink it all in one breath. Drink it in small sips to moisten your throat.

A dry and itchy throat is usually a manifestation of pharyngitis, which is called laryngitis in traditional Chinese medicine. The pharynx is the gateway to the stomach and the throat is the door to the lungs. External pathogens entering the lungs can easily damage the throat, and improper diet entering the stomach can easily damage the pharynx. The throat is a place where evil toxins tend to soak and stay for a long time. The clinical causes of pharyngitis can be divided into internal and external. The external causes are mostly wind-cold evil or wind-heat evil. "Treatise on Warm Diseases" says "when warm evil is received from above, it first affects the lungs". The throat is located at the upper part of the body and is the first to be affected by external evil. The internal causes are mostly yin deficiency of the body and a preference for spicy and fried food, which causes phlegm and heat to accumulate, burning the throat or damaging the yin of the lungs and kidneys over time, leading to virtual fire inflammation, burning body fluids into phlegm, and phlegm and heat traveling up the meridians to disturb the throat, resulting in failure of clearing the passages. Life should be regular. Nowadays, people's pace of life is accelerated, interpersonal relationships are complicated, they are often in a state of fatigue and mental tension, and the opportunities for physical exercise are reduced. Many people lack sufficient sleep and rest, or go to bed late and get up late, disrupting their normal life patterns. Others are unhappy all day long for various reasons, which weakens their body's resistance to disease and makes them vulnerable to external pathogenic factors, causing chronic pharyngitis to linger and worsen.

In this case, you can try to eat some thirst-quenching fruits, such as coconut water (transparent, not white coconut milk) or try monk fruit tea (crush the monk fruit with the shell and seeds, put it into a pot, add appropriate amount of water, dried houttuynia cordata and dried wild chrysanthemum, boil it over high heat, then simmer it over low heat for half an hour to an hour, let it cool and drink it). This monk fruit tea works for me every time. I often have sore throat, itchy throat, inflammation and cough up green and yellow thick phlegm.
