How to maintain leather down

Everyone likes to wear down jackets in winter. Because down jackets are not as thick as ordinary cotton coats, and they also have a good warmth-keeping effect. But everyone needs to pay attention to the maintenance of leather and down to prevent it from getting damp. So, how should leather and down be maintained?

1. Genuine leather down jackets and leather clothing should be kept moisture-proof, otherwise once they are exposed to moisture and mold, the leather clothing will lose its luster and affect its fastness. If the leather jacket is stained with rain, you should immediately use a towel or clean cloth to absorb the moisture and place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry. Do not expose it to the sun or bake it, otherwise the leather jacket will harden or shrink.

2. When wearing a genuine leather down jacket, you should pay attention to protecting the leather surface to prevent it from being scratched by hard or sharp objects, and to prevent the leather jacket from being stained with oil. Dust on glossy leather. Oil stains can be promptly removed with a dry rag or brush; for fleece and smooth leather, use a sponge (used one, avoid using a new one) or an eraser to wipe the dirty areas.

3. If it is dirty due to long-term wearing, use a tissue to apply a little hand cream to the dirty area and gently wipe it to clean it.

The leather won’t change color either. If it is oil stains, milk stains or something like that, it will be difficult to clean, so just send it directly to the dry cleaner.

4. Never get water on leather and down. If splashed with water, wipe it dry immediately with a dry towel and hang it in a ventilated place to dry, otherwise it will easily discolor.

5. Genuine leather down jackets should be used and maintained with special care due to the different types of leather. The polished leather and the dyed glossy leather should not be oiled or greased. Spray paint, all leather clothes should not be polished with shoe polish.
