My body is extremely itchy after taking a shower

My body is extremely itchy after taking a shower

Many people have this situation: after taking a shower, their body feels extremely itchy and uncomfortable. This situation is related to dry skin. Especially in autumn, when the weather is dry, if you have the habit of taking a bath every day, you should pay attention to applying some skin care cream after washing to prevent your skin from becoming drier and drier. In addition to the itching caused by dry skin, certain skin diseases cannot be ignored. If pimples appear, it is best to see a doctor first.

With the arrival of winter, the air becomes drier and drier, and itchy skin begins to bother those who take a bath every day. Many of them even believe that itchy skin means that personal hygiene is not maintained properly, so they bathe more frequently and more thoroughly, but the itching becomes more severe. Medical experts remind people that bathing too frequently can damage the skin, and the resulting skin itching is difficult to avoid. In this season, it is more appropriate to take a bath 2 to 3 times a week. If the habit of taking multiple showers a day is difficult to change, you should pay more attention to your bathing method.

Itchy skin may be caused by bathing too frequently

People usually pay attention to personal hygiene, but they often feel unbearable itching all over their body, most of whom are middle-aged and young "white-collar workers". With the improvement of people's living standards and housing conditions, many families have the conditions to take a bath at any time. Some skin diseases caused by frequent bathing have also increased. The most common one is constant itching of the skin.

For most people who work in environments where sanitation is not very poor, daily showering during the dry winter months can easily disrupt normal skin structure. The outermost layer of human skin is the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum that falls off automatically and the dirt mixed with skin sweat will not be much. Washing this part every day can have a certain protective effect on the skin. If you bathe too frequently, the stratum corneum will be damaged and its function of protecting the skin will be lost. The moisture in the skin cells will evaporate more easily and the skin will become dry. According to traditional Chinese medicine, "dryness creates wind, and wind causes itching." "Wind" here refers to a cause of disease that wanders around in the body, causing itchy skin.

Wrong habits that increase itching

Many people who take a shower every day have this experience: itching often comes at inopportune times. For example, when you are in a meeting, driving or meeting with clients, you may suddenly feel an itch in a certain part of your body, but it is inconvenient to scratch it at that time, so you can only bear it. Once you get home or are alone, you will scratch it immediately. You always feel that it will feel good only when the skin is broken. However, scratching too hard will cause small bumps on the skin. Some people are used to scalding the itchy parts with hot water, thinking that this can relieve some of the pain. However, these methods of relieving itching are incorrect and will cause greater damage to the skin to varying degrees, and will instead aggravate the degree of itching. Moreover, it is easy for bacteria and parasites to colonize, and even cause skin inflammation, ulcers and other diseases. So, whenever this happens, the best way is to use a cold compress soaked in cold water to relieve the itching.

Some people who take a bath every day will feel unbearable itching in a certain part of their body only at certain times or under certain circumstances. Dr. Liu said that psychological factors are usually at work in such situations. For example, you usually feel itchy only when you are at home or alone, because you can scratch it at will. This condition is called skin neurosis, and the feeling will only come when there is an opportunity. Doctors suggest that people whose itching is caused by psychological factors should pay attention to self-restraint. When the itching occurs or when the environment occurs, they should try to distract their attention and force themselves not to think about it.

There is a way to take a bath

You don't have to take a shower every day in winter. If the habit of taking a bath every day is not easy to change, you should pay special attention to the bathing method.

1. The water temperature should be between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius. If the water temperature is too high, the oil on the skin surface will be more easily destroyed, the capillaries will dilate, the degree of skin dryness will be aggravated, causing damage to the skin. At the same time, it will also increase the burden on the heart.

2. Bathing time should not be too long. Take a 20-minute bath and a 3 to 5-minute shower, otherwise the skin surface will easily become dehydrated.

3. If your skin is not very oily, it is better to choose neutral bath gel and soap, but you don’t have to use it every day, just once every two or three days will be enough. Moreover, it should not stay on the body for too long and must be rinsed thoroughly, otherwise it will damage the skin.

4. After taking a shower, apply some lotion all over your body to prevent the evaporation of moisture from the epidermis, which can prevent the occurrence of dryness and itching.

5. Eat less beef, mutton, onions, garlic and other spicy foods, and drink less alcohol and smoke less.

6. After flushing with hot water, it is best to flush the whole body with relatively cool water to make the skin and blood vessels contract to a certain extent, so as to increase the elasticity of blood vessels and make people healthier.
