Wine Tasting

1

Good wine is usually meant to be tasted. Just like red wine, brandy can also be tasted, allowing people to enjoy the mellow aroma of fruit and the fragrance of wine. It is usually recommended to drink brandy neat.

When tasting brandy, you need to use a special brandy glass, which is usually a short-footed glass with a small mouth and a wide belly.

Accompanied by melodious light music, pour brandy to one-sixth of the glass (place the glass horizontally so that the wine does not overflow from the glass), hold the glass in one hand, shake it slowly, carefully observe the wine hanging on the wall, and at the same time let the aroma of the wine evaporate through the warmth of your hand; then slowly bring the glass to your mouth, take a sip of brandy and hold it in your mouth, inhale through your nose, and then slowly swallow the wine; let the mellow aroma and fragrance of the brandy slowly echo in your nose and mouth, this feeling must be wonderful.

Common ways to drink brandy

Pure Drink

The so-called neat drinking means drinking brandy without mixing it with other liquids, also called pure drinking. You can drink it neat with a glass of ice water. After taking a sip of pure brandy, you can take another sip of ice water to awaken your taste buds and savor the aroma of the next sip of brandy.

Tips: Although most people find it difficult to adapt to drinking neat, I personally recommend drinking good quality aged brandy neat to enjoy its original flavor and sweet and rich aroma.

How to drink brandy

Ice Drink

Since brandy is a strong liquor, some people like to add ice cubes or mineral water to it to dilute its alcohol content, increase its taste, and make it easier to drink. Of course, there are many other ways to mix drinks besides adding water and ice.

Tips: This method is usually used for brandy of average quality. If water is added to high-quality aged cognac, it is like adding Sprite to dry red wine.

Mixed with Sprite (Coke)

Mix the wine in a ratio of 1:0.8, then shake the mixing pot. After the bubbles of Sprite come out, pour the wine into a glass and drink it. You can feel the mixed impact of the alcohol and evaporating bubbles in your throat and stomach.

Tips: This way of drinking is very harmful to the stomach, so it is recommended not to drink too much.

Iced black (green) tea

According to the proportions of the Sprite method above, mix iced black tea or green tea into the brandy to dilute its strong liquor taste. This way of drinking is more common in bars. By stirring it thoroughly, you can feel the taste of tea and alcohol perfectly combined together, which is closer to the public taste.
