What to do if tooth roots fall off

People's teeth are the hardest part of the body, but each tooth is connected to a nerve, so teeth also need to be carefully protected. People should brush their teeth every morning and evening to prevent the growth of bacteria in the mouth. If people do not protect their teeth well, their teeth will be eroded by bacteria and eventually even lead to tooth decay. Let’s take a look at what to do if tooth roots fall out?

See if it's worth keeping. If the tooth has value to be retained, it can be treated by driving a post on the tooth root and then replacing it with a tooth; if the tooth has no value to be retained, it is recommended to remove it as soon as possible. If it is not removed, keeping it in the mouth will cause bad breath, tilting of adjacent teeth and other symptoms.

It is certain that what is falling off is not the fragments of teeth, but dental calculus. It usually occurs on the lingual side of the lower front teeth. Dental calculus is the main local cause of gingivitis, which manifests as bleeding gums, gingival atrophy, and bad breath. When there is a lot of dental calculus, it may fall off partially under the stimulation of chewing movement, which is often mistaken for tooth tissue shedding. It is better to go to the oral department of the hospital for a full-mouth periodontal cleaning (teeth cleaning), which can thoroughly clean the dental calculus and dental plaque that cannot be brushed off daily, and the gingivitis will be cured, and there will be no more bleeding.

Tooth root loss can occur for several reasons:

1. Wedge-shaped defect: A wedge-shaped defect is common in the neck of a tooth. When the defect is large, it may cause tooth fracture.

2. Neck caries is similar to the above reasons.

3. If it is intact, it may be due to alveolar bone absorption and tooth loss caused by periodontitis.

Whether the residual root can be retained depends on the condition of the remaining tooth root, such as the length of the root, the periodontal tissue and alveolar bone around the root, the position of the root surface after caries removal, etc. First, take a dental X-ray, and then the dentist will comprehensively judge whether the root is still worth retaining. If so, complete root canal treatment will be performed, and then a porcelain crown restoration will be performed to restore the tooth to its full appearance. The cost of root canal treatment varies depending on the number of canals in the tooth's root. The price of porcelain crowns varies depending on the material chosen.
