What to do if you inhale a small amount of gas

What should you do if you inhale a small amount of gas? Many people may not be very clear about this issue. In the past, gas poisoning occurred from time to time. Gas is a colorless and odorless gas, so it is not easy to be detected. Severe gas poisoning can also be life-threatening. So what should we do if we inhale a small amount of gas? First, we should open the windows and doors to keep the air flowing. Let’s take a closer look below.

Get some fresh air or go to hospital.

First, go to a well-ventilated place to breathe fresh air. If the symptoms disappear quickly, there are generally no sequelae and the condition is mild. If you experience dizziness or other discomfort, you need to go to the hospital for oxygen or even medication. In addition, insist on going to the park or on the balcony in the morning to do deep breathing exercises, chest expansion exercises, and Tai Chi for about 30 minutes every day. Those with mild to moderate poisoning should do morning exercises for 7 to 14 consecutive days. Secondly, you can take 1 to 2 pills of Gold Vita every day for 7 to 14 days, or 0.1 to 0.2 grams of vitamin C, 3 times a day. You can also take vitamin B1, B6, and vitamin B complex in appropriate amounts.

There may be three situations: coal smoke, coal ash, dust, coal gas

Soot is smoke, which can irritate the eyes and cause tears. If you inhale a lot of soot, it may cause tracheitis, coughing, or emphysema. These are all caused by smoke irritation. As long as you leave the environment, it will improve. It's not a big problem if it happens once in a while.

Inhaling a large amount of coal ash will cause dust and lead to pneumoconiosis, which can be said to be an incurable disease. It can only be prevented. The prevention method is very simple, just wear a special dust mask and change the filter frequently to reduce the inhalation of dust. Please note that ordinary gauze masks are not effective.

The toxic component of coal gas is carbon monoxide, which will cause poisoning if inhaled. Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache, dizziness, blue lips, and black under the nails. If you can immediately move to a place with fresh air (oxygen breathing is better), the symptoms will be relieved. If the poisoning is serious, you may need hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Carbon monoxide poisoning usually occurs when the chimney of coal stove heating is blocked, and it is extremely rare in a burning boiler room.
