How to save yourself when drowning?

The summer heat is unbearable, and many people stay in the swimming pool for the whole day. Some people think that their swimming skills are very good and there will be no problems, so they often go swimming outside. In fact, if you want to swim outdoors, it is best not to go alone. Once an accident occurs, the consequences are disastrous. If a person drowns while swimming, most people don’t know what to do? Here are some self-rescue tips for drowning.

How to save yourself when drowning?

First of all, if you cannot swim, or even if you can swim, you must not go swimming alone outside, such as in rivers, beaches, etc. If something happens there will be no one to help you. In addition, choose a good and safe place when going out swimming.

Secondly, if you feel unwell before going swimming, you should not go swimming. People who often suffer from cramps are not suitable for swimming in deep water. Then, do warm-up exercises before going into the water for a swim.

If you experience calf or foot cramps while swimming, stay calm, stretch your legs or do some jumping movements, or massage or pull the cramped area vigorously, and call your companions or a lifeguard for help. Be careful not to panic.

When swimming, you should be aware of your swimming level and do it within your ability. If you feel unwell during swimming, such as dizziness, nausea, palpitations, shortness of breath, etc., you must immediately go ashore to rest or call for help. It must be timely. Also, when swimming, do not play around to avoid choking, drowning, etc.

Finally, if a drowning accident does occur, first aid should be performed immediately on the spot, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the most important. First, the drowning person should be rescued to shore and the oral and nasopharyngeal cavities should be cleaned.

Remove debris from the body to keep the person breathing freely; raise the drowning person's abdomen, let the chest and head droop, and find a way to pour out the water that the rescuer has drunk. If the drowning person stops breathing, artificial respiration must be performed. In addition, while giving first aid, the patient should be quickly sent to the hospital for treatment and remain calm.
