What is femoral head effusion?

Femoral head effusion generally refers to fluid accumulation in the hip joint. When femoral head effusion occurs in the human body, it also indicates that there may be femoral head necrosis. Many people do not know much about femoral head effusion. Clinically, the symptoms of femoral head effusion are relatively obvious, and there will be a certain degree of pain, but it is easy to be ignored, which leads to worsening of symptoms. If you want to solve the problem of femoral head necrosis, you must know what femoral head effusion is?

1. Hip effusion

Hip effusion has always been considered an early sign of femoral head necrosis, which is mainly manifested by tenderness in the groin. In severe cases, it may even manifest as pelvic tilt and uneven leg length. If fluid accumulation is found in the hip joint, the patient must pay attention to it and seek medical treatment as soon as possible. Small amounts of hip effusion can be completely cured with conservative treatment. If treatment is abandoned or delayed, a large amount of fluid may accumulate in the joint cavity, leading to increased pressure in the joint cavity and insufficient blood supply to the femoral head, which may easily become a predisposing factor for ischemic necrosis of the femoral head. If the treatment method is inappropriate, it may turn into suppurative arthritis or ischemic necrosis of the femoral head.

2. Reasons

Under normal circumstances, the production and absorption of synovial fluid are balanced. Synovial fluid is secreted by the synovium and has the function of nourishing articular cartilage and lubricating the joints. It will continuously circulate and renew when the joints move. However, when the synovium is stimulated by inflammation, the absorption of synovial fluid is hindered, the original balance is broken, the production of synovial fluid is greater than the reabsorption, and "joint effusion" occurs. If not treated in time, the joints will be stimulated by long-term inflammation, causing adhesions and affecting the normal movement of the joints.

3. Note

There are many causes of hip effusion, and the treatment methods vary greatly depending on the patient's physical condition. Patients should not take medication blindly. Some patients can take oral drugs such as glucometacin, acetaminophen, local hot compresses and physical therapy to relieve the symptoms to a certain extent. However, in order to achieve the goal of treatment and rehabilitation, they must first go to a regular professional hospital for examination, find out the cause and then carry out corresponding treatment. Some can be treated through minimally invasive cleaning, etc., so as to achieve better recovery. There are many different clinical treatments for hip effusion. When choosing, patients must pay attention to their own condition and choose the best one.
