Tips on preventing gas poisoning

Tips on preventing gas poisoning

As a modern household kitchen appliance, gas is very convenient and easy to use, because gas cooks faster than normal fire and rice cooks faster. However, gas poses a safety hazard because some people often forget to turn off the gas tank, resulting in gas leaks and causing gas poisoning. Severe gas poisoning may even be life-threatening. Here are some tips on how to prevent gas poisoning.

Safety Tips

1. For self-protection, cover your nose and mouth with a wet towel before entering a kitchen filled with gas.

2. Close the main valve immediately to prevent the gas from spreading and causing a fire.

Note: If you use piped gas at home, the main valve is usually located in the kitchen near the gas meter. If you use bottled liquefied gas, tighten the main valve clockwise.

3. Open doors and windows quickly to ventilate the room.

4. If someone feels unwell, it is likely that he is suffering from gas poisoning. He should leave the room immediately and go to a ventilated place to breathe fresh air.

5. The poisoned person should be placed in a safe place to lie down, and should be kept warm. Call 120 for help immediately or ask neighbors for help.

6. For those who have stopped breathing or their heart has stopped beating, artificial respiration and external chest massage should be performed immediately after calling for help.

Special reminder: If you encounter this situation, don't panic. Note:

(1) Never use any electrical appliances.

(2) Do not make phone calls in a room filled with gas.

(3) Never turn off any electrical appliance that is in operation.

(4) When adults are not at home, you should try to avoid using gas. If you must use gas, be sure to open the window or turn on the range hood first to ventilate the room.

(5) When using gas to boil water or cook, do not leave easily to avoid water overflowing and extinguishing the fire. Be sure to remember to turn off the gas valve after use.

In addition, it is recommended to install carbon monoxide gas alarms in places where carbon monoxide gas may be produced. When the carbon monoxide gas in the air exceeds the standard, sound and light alarms can be used to remind people to take risk avoidance measures as soon as possible. Imported carbon monoxide gas alarms for home use include brands such as Kidde and Honeywell, while domestically produced ones mainly include models such as JHY-CO-AR.
