Gout treatment drugs

Gout treatment drugs

Gout is a health problem that affects many people. Suffering from gout will have a great impact on the patient's health, so in daily life, gout patients must treat the disease in time. Of course, you also need to have some medicine on hand for use during an attack. So, what are the drugs that can treat gout? The following are recommendations for you!

1. Colchicine

Colchicine can be said to be a relatively commonly used drug for the treatment of gout. It can not only treat acute attacks of gout, but can also be used to prevent gout. Colchicine is a bioalkali extracted from the bulbs and seeds of Colchicum. This type of drug can inhibit the increase in white blood cells caused by urate crystals and interfere with the chemotaxis of white blood cells. Therefore, colchicine drugs have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

2. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are good pain relievers and the first choice for treating gout. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have the same effect as colchicine in the treatment of gouty arthritis, but their toxic side effects are much less than those of colchicine. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can relieve patients' inflammatory symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain in the joints. They can also improve the function of certain muscles, bones, and joints, and effectively prevent and treat edema. Indomethacin, diclofenac, ibuprofen and rofecoxib are all commonly used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

3. Glucocorticoids

The therapeutic effect of glucocorticoid drugs is also relatively good, but relapse is easy to occur after discontinuation of the drugs. Therefore, glucocorticoid drugs are only suitable for patients whose symptoms are very severe and recurrent. Glucocorticoid drugs can inhibit non-infectious inflammation, reduce joint congestion and edema, and the treatment effect is relatively rapid. Prednisone, hydrocortisone and prednisolone are all commonly used glucocorticoid drugs.

4. Uric acid excretion drugs

Uric acid excretion drugs are used to prevent the reabsorption of uric acid by the renal tubules and increase the excretion of uric acid, thereby lowering the blood uric acid level in the human body. Commonly used uric acid excretion drugs include salicylic acid drugs, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, benzbromarone, etc.
