How to correct crowded teeth?

Crowded teeth are a very common phenomenon. If orthodontic treatment is not performed for crowded teeth, it will cause abnormal chewing function of the patient, affect the health of dental tissue, and affect facial beauty and mental health. Therefore, if the teeth are crooked, it is best to undergo corrective surgery as soon as possible. As age increases, tooth correction becomes more and more difficult. If you find that your teeth are crowded, you must undergo correction as soon as possible.

Causes of dental crowding

1. Genetic factors Crowded dentition has obvious genetic characteristics. From the crowding and misalignment of individual teeth or the crowding of most teeth, or even the degree of twisting of a single tooth, the parents and offspring can have the same manifestations. This genetic characteristic objectively exists, but its detailed genetic mechanism is still not very clear.

2. Failures during the tooth replacement period Failures during the tooth replacement period are a common cause of dental crowding. For example, premature loss of deciduous teeth causes the adjacent teeth to move forward and occupy the gap between the missing teeth, resulting in insufficient time for the permanent teeth to erupt and misalignment. Another example is retention of deciduous teeth, which can cause misalignment of the subsequent permanent teeth.

3. Insufficient development of the jaw Insufficient development of the jaw causes a large amount of bone imbalance, and the teeth cannot be arranged neatly in the alveoli, but are crowded and misplaced.

4. Too large teeth: Because the mesiodistal width of the teeth is too large, it may cause crowding and misalignment of the teeth.

5. Bad habits Some bad oral habits, such as children's thumb sucking and mouth breathing, can cause narrow dental arches or affect jaw development, resulting in crowded teeth.

Symptoms of Crowded Teeth

1. Small bone volume, normal width of the mesiodistal diameter of the teeth, insufficient length of the dental arch, especially insufficient development of the front part of the maxilla, which can easily cause crowding of the maxillary anterior teeth.

2. A large number of teeth, such as supernumerary teeth or excessively wide teeth in the maxillary anterior area, resulting in crowded dentition.

3. Grading For the needs of clinical diagnosis, dental crowding is generally divided into three degrees: mild, moderate and severe according to the severity of the crowding.

Mild crowding (Ⅰ°): The difference in space between each dental arch is less than 5 mm.

Moderate crowding (Ⅱ°): The difference in space between each dental arch is less than 10 mm.

Severe crowding (Ⅲ°): The difference in space between each dental arch is more than 10mm.

The clinical manifestations are crowded, misplaced and uneven teeth, mainly because the number of teeth is greater than the amount of bone, resulting in abnormal dental arch morphology.

How to correct crowded teeth

1. Traditional orthodontics

Wearing braces is the most commonly used orthodontic method. Metal brackets are bonded to the surface of the teeth. By adjusting the curvature of the steel wire, biological force is added to the dentition, slowly stretching the teeth toward the correction target, ultimately achieving the orthodontic purpose.

2. Aesthetic orthodontics

Orthodontics incorporates aesthetic concepts on the basis of traditional orthodontics. The purpose of orthodontics is not only to align teeth, but also to consider the orthodontic effect through multiple aspects such as the beauty of the correction, whether it is natural, comfort, oral health, and oral function. Aesthetic orthodontics uses a number of world-leading orthodontic technologies from the United States, South Korea's Sapphire, International AO, etc., and improves the technology based on the oral environment and tooth shape characteristics of the Chinese people, to form a tooth correction plan that is more suitable for the Chinese people. Among them, transparent ceramic brackets are used to replace traditional metal brackets, saying goodbye to the embarrassing situation of iron teeth and steel teeth, and giving patients a fashionable and beautiful orthodontic experience.

3. Rapid orthodontics

The most commonly used rapid orthodontic method now is AO self-ligating rapid orthodontic, which shortens the orthodontic cycle by more than half a year, reduces the number of follow-up visits and the time of each follow-up visit, and avoids delays in study and work.

4. Invisible orthodontics

Invisible orthodontics has set a precedent for bracketless orthodontics. Based on the orthodontic plan, computer 3D design is used to produce fully transparent braces, which are easy for patients to put on and take off. They are invisible even when worn face to face at a close distance, and are beautiful and invisible.

5. Aesthetic zirconium porcelain crown

Aesthetic zirconium ceramic crowns are a technological upgrade of all-ceramic teeth. The zirconium dioxide all-ceramic material is sintered at high temperature inside the transparent zirconium ceramic. Because the whole body is made of ceramic, its light transmittance, color and gloss are consistent with real teeth. The zirconium dioxide material fired at high temperature has a hardness and toughness similar to enamel, and is durable and wear-resistant. The world-class zirconium ceramic crown manufacturing process uses computer-integrated molding, manufacturing, and color comparison. It is currently the porcelain restoration and orthodontic method with better simulation.
