The trailing arm suspension is a suspension structure designed specifically for the rear wheels. Its structure is very simple - a thick up and down swinging trailing arm is used to achieve a rigid connection between the wheel and the body or frame, and then a hydraulic shock absorber and coil spring are used as a soft connection to absorb shock and support the body. A cylindrical or square beam connects the left and right wheels. From the perspective of the structure of the trailing arm suspension, since the left and right longitudinal arms are connected by a crossbeam, the suspension structure still maintains the characteristics of an integral bridge. This means that the camber angle of the wheels connected to the longitudinal trailing arm will not change during dynamic movement, which will cause understeer of the front wheels. Therefore, the trailing arm rear suspension cannot provide good protection for the precise control of the vehicle body. However, the good news is that the crossbeam connecting the left and right longitudinal arms is rotatable at the connection, which allows the left and right wheels to jump freely in a small space to a certain extent without interfering with the wheels on the other side.
