Tongue is numb after waking up

After waking up is the time when our brain is least clear. Numbness in the tongue after waking up may be related to the blood supply to the brain. Local insufficient blood supply or insufficient blood supply to the brain can cause numbness and pain in our tongue; of course, it may also be a sequelae of taking too many drugs. In any case, if your tongue is numb for a long time, it is best to get it checked to avoid nerve damage on the tongue due to blood and qi problems.

1. Numbness of the tongue is mostly related to slow blood flow, increased blood viscosity, changes in microcirculation, local blood supply insufficiency or cerebral blood supply insufficiency. You can check whether blood lipids, blood sugar, blood pressure and blood viscosity are increased. It is often related to slow blood flow, increased blood viscosity, changes in microcirculation, and insufficient local blood supply or insufficient blood supply to the brain. It is best to go to a regular hospital for a specific examination to determine the cause and then use symptomatic medication for treatment.

2. Consider that the blood supply to the brain scalp is insufficient. Comb your head with a comb (wooden ones are best) every night before going to bed to maintain the blood supply to the scalp and replenish it while sleeping. This will not only cure the numbness of the scalp, but also keep your brain awake and enhance brain activity. Also pay attention to keeping warm when sleeping.

3. If there is an underlying disease, then it may be a disease problem that affects the metabolism and causes this problem. In addition, we need to see if it is caused by the use of certain medications, which may also lead to this situation. Some drugs may cause this problem. This depends on the individual's specific condition.

4. Tongue numbness is often related to slow blood flow, increased blood viscosity, changes in microcirculation, local blood supply deficiency or cerebral blood supply deficiency. You can check whether blood lipids, blood sugar, blood pressure and blood viscosity are increased. Tongue numbness may also be a sign of ischemic cerebrovascular disease. If ischemic cerebrovascular disease occurs, in addition to tongue numbness, there will also be tongue pain, local swelling of the tongue, inflexible movement and accompanied by systemic symptoms and numbness of one side of the limbs, speech impairment, limb weakness, increased blood pressure, dizziness, headache, etc. In addition, the use of certain drugs such as gentamicin and streptomycin can also cause tongue and lips numbness. Therefore, if there is increased blood lipids, blood sugar, or blood pressure, and increased blood viscosity, you must actively treat it. Pay attention to drinking more water at ordinary times, take small doses of aspirin, salvia miltiorrhiza, vinalutong, ginkgo leaf tablets and other drugs under the guidance of a doctor, and pay attention to supplementing vitamins B1, B6, C, etc., which can reduce blood viscosity, improve microcirculation, and eliminate numbness.
