What is a simple way to identify purple clay teapots?

The craftsmanship of purple clay teapots is very sophisticated. Up to now, purple clay teapots are still a kind of handicraft products with extremely high sales. Many people buy them home for collection, while some people buy them home to make use of them, such as making tea and so on. Using a purple clay teapot to brew tea is not only very convenient, but also adds a unique flavor to the tea. Only those who drink it will know it. So, what is the simple way to identify purple clay teapots?

Tip 1: Bright or weird colors. You don’t even need to look at pots with particularly bright, colorful, and weird colors! Such pots are basically made of chemical materials. The colorful and bright colors in nature are warning colors.

Tip 2: It feels weightless when you hold it in your hand (except for thin tires). Fake material, thin-bodied pots are relatively light and easy to be broken. Don’t look at those that do not feel weighty in your hand! The weight of a real purple clay pot generally requires about half a pound of clay.

Tip three: Pay attention to the water color on the surface of the pot that has not been soaked. The surface of the pot is thick, and the particles of the pot are covered by a layer of paste on the surface, or the particles cannot be seen at all. Such a "mud pot" is not wanted, because the air permeability is greatly reduced and the flavor of purple clay is lost. Purple clay pots should focus on the "sand" feeling.

The second situation is that the clay contains chemical materials, and "mango powder" is added when refining the clay. The water color of the pot made from it is beautiful and the color of the pot is uniform.

Tip 4: The particles are not clearly distinguished and there are no pores in the cross section. The original ore particles of the pot should be clear. For some pots with added chemicals, the chemicals wrap the particles, and the particles are not clearly visible (a 20-30x magnifying glass is needed to see them).

How to identify the quality of purple clay teapots

Tip 5: No impurities, extremely smooth and clean.

The original ore pot has impurities, and there are quite a lot of impurities, and these impurities are not just iron. Impurities usually appear as black particles and are unevenly distributed on the surface of the pot, so many genuine original ore pots are rather ugly when they come out of the kiln. You need to be careful with pots that look overly clean and uniform.

Method/Steps: Judging from the workmanship of the purple clay teapot

First, the installation process.

In terms of appearance, when viewed from the side, the upper ends of the mouth, spout and handle of the pot should be flush; when viewed from above, the spout and handle should be in the same straight line, should not be skewed, and should be located in the middle of the pot body. The end surfaces of the mouth and cover should be flat without any bumps, the fit should be tight, and there should be no traces of sandpaper or file grinding.

Secondly, the body of the pot is inlaid.

There should be no cracks or peeling on the whole body. If there are any, it is a defective product and the price will be at least one-third lower. Pay special attention to the places where the spout, handle, dripper, body and lid of the pot are inlaid. In addition, the bottom of the pot, the rim of the mouth of the pot, the rim of the lid and the decorations on the flower pot are also inlaid. There should be no cracks. There are many cracks inside the pot, so be especially careful. Peeling may occur on the end surfaces that are prone to impact, such as the mouth, port, and lid.

Again, handmade precision. The joints should have a natural and smooth transition without any signs of artificial repair. The lines should be upright and clear, without any drag; the image of the flower product should be as realistic and textured as possible, and the traces of tool modification should be as few as possible. What needs attention here is that there should be no traces of polishing with sandpaper or files to ensure a good fit.

Finally, the firing effect. During the firing process, uneven firepower and high and low temperatures may cause uneven color, bubbles, and too old or too tender phenomena, which should also be paid attention to.
