In the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern my country, there live a large number of Mongolian people. The Mongolians are also known as a nation on horseback. Their main means of survival is sheep, and their daily diet is inseparable from dairy and meat. The Mongolian people's traditional diet mainly consists of four categories, namely pasta and meat, as well as dairy and tea. So let us take a closer look at the Mongolian dietary customs. First, what are the dietary habits of the Mongolian people? The Mongolian people have lived on the grasslands for generations, with animal husbandry as their main mode of production. Their main products are milk and meat. Kumis, hand-pulled meat, roasted lamb and tea are their favorite drinks and foods in daily life and as delicacies for entertaining guests. The Mongolians in western Liaoning Province started farming relatively early, so their diet has retained both the traditional Mongolian food customs and some unique delicacies of eastern Mongolia. Such as whole lamb soup, "hand-held lamb", Mongolian pies, Lama cake, etc. Second, the so-called whole mutton soup is made by cutting fresh mutton into strips, cooking them in water, and then adding various condiments to eat. It tastes delicious and is very popular among people. Whole lamb soup was originally a specialty of the Mongolian people, but has now become a delicacy for entertaining guests in Fuxin, western Liaoning. Especially on the day of the "Beginning of Autumn" in the lunar calendar, people eat it, commonly known as "grabbing autumn fat." Third, "hand-held mutton" is one of the traditional foods of Mongolians. To make "hand-held mutton", you must use fat and tender sheep. The sheep must be slaughtered on the spot, skinned, put into the pot, add seasonings, and steamed. It has excellent color, fragrance and taste. It is a delicious dish for Mongolians to entertain guests. Because it is eaten with hands instead of chopsticks, it is called hand-held meat. What are the Mongolian eating habits? White first, then red. Eating white first and red later refers to a dietary custom of the Mongolian ethnic group when entertaining guests. Mongolians regard white as a symbol of purity. Therefore, Mongolians always start every banquet, big or small, with white food. For example, before the banquet begins, the host will give the guests a silver bowl of milk to taste according to their seniority and age. For example, when the Mongolians offer sacrifices to the mountain gods Wenggun, Aobao and Sulide, they would sprinkle fresh milk to the heavens and the Holy Lord. After the celebration and prayers, people often wave milk buckets with both hands as a ritual to bring good fortune and luck. Another example For example, when guests see the prepared lamb back, they will find that the lamb head is smeared with butter. This means that when entertaining guests, the lamb back is the best red food, but the white food still comes first. |
