Differential diagnosis method of pituitary tumor

Differential diagnosis method of pituitary tumor

Many people think that if they have a tumor, they will definitely die, and even treatment will be a waste of time. In fact, this is not the case. As long as they are examined and treated as soon as possible, there is a certain chance of recovery. But how to confirm it? Let us learn about the differential diagnosis of pituitary tumors.

CT scan: It is only useful for diagnosing large pituitary tumors, as it is easy to miss small pituitary tumors. It cannot be used as the main tool for diagnosing pituitary tumors.

MRI examination: It is the most important tool for diagnosing pituitary tumors. It can clearly show the size, shape, location, and relationship of the tumor with surrounding structures. Even tumors with a diameter of 2-3 mm can be displayed. However, the signals of some tumors are similar to those of surrounding normal pituitary tissues. It is difficult to distinguish between the two, and a combination of clinical manifestations and endocrine examinations is required for diagnosis.

Diagnose pituitary tumors through clinical manifestations: The patient's discomfort symptoms and physical changes after the disease are the most basic data for diagnosis. Some subtle manifestations may serve as important basis for diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

Plain skull X-ray: This is a relatively primitive diagnostic method, which determines the presence of tumors and makes differential diagnosis based on changes in the sella turcica bone and calcification in the sella turcica area.

Pathological examination for pituitary tumor diagnosis: This is the most reliable diagnostic method with a very low misdiagnosis rate. Pathological diagnosis is based on ordinary slices of HE staining and light microscopy observation. This operation can only be used as a gross diagnosis and cannot distinguish the type of tumor. Immunohistochemical staining is used to diagnose based on the hormones contained in tumor cells. It has a high sensitivity, but the misdiagnosis rate is also high.

How to prevent:

Have a good attitude to deal with stress, combine work and rest, and avoid excessive fatigue. It can be seen that stress is an important cause of cancer. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that stress leads to overwork and physical weakness, which in turn causes decreased immune function, endocrine disorders, and metabolic disorders in the body, leading to the deposition of acidic substances in the body; stress can also lead to mental tension, causing qi stagnation, blood stasis, and internal toxic fire.

Do not eat too much salty and spicy food, and do not eat overheated, too cold, expired or spoiled food; the elderly and weak or those with a genetic gene for certain diseases should eat some anti-cancer foods and alkaline foods with high alkaline content as appropriate to maintain a good mental state.
