Clams are also a type of seafood, and have very high requirements for temperature when stored. Fresh clams are usually stored in water at 0 to 4 degrees. Once the clams die, they will quickly become tasteless and spoiled at temperatures above 10 degrees. The temperature for storing dead seafood is usually required to be below -18 degrees.

3. How to choose fresh clams

2. Fresh clams: When no one is stirring the water, the living clams will extend a relatively long "tongue". If you touch it with your hand, it will quickly retract. You can choose one by one from different boxes, but you need to be quick, otherwise they will be snatched away by others.

3. Dead clams: First, they cannot stick out their tongues. Second, some of the tongues that have stuck out can no longer be retracted, and their tongues have turned white in color. This kind of clams are not needed.

4. Tightly closed clams: Some clams are always tightly closed. For this kind, you can ignore it for now and observe it. Then choose from other boxes to see if it will stick out its tongue at you. If it does, take it home. If not, then you don’t have to pay attention to it and it’s best not to buy it.
