What are the symptoms of intestinal polyps

Many people who often work and socialize will find that they have some problems with their stomachs. Long-term drinking and disordered diet lead to many gastrointestinal diseases. Intestinal polyps are a common symptom of gastrointestinal diseases. Many people are very worried about this disease happening to themselves. First, they need to know the symptoms of intestinal polyps. So, what are the symptoms of intestinal polyps?

First, what are the symptoms of intestinal polyps? Childhood polyps mainly occur in children, most of whom are under 10 years old, and are most common around 5 years old, and are more common in boys. It is less common in adults. This suggests that the polyp can fall off on its own. Polyps mainly occur in the rectum and the lower end of the sigmoid colon. They are usually single and if multiple, they do not exceed 3 to 4. The polyps are spherical in shape, and most do not exceed 1 cm in diameter. Pathologically, it is a misaligned uncus. Because polyps are brittle and rich in blood vessels, blood in the stool or dripping blood after defecation is the main manifestation of this disease. This type of polyp will not become cancerous and can be treated by endoscopic electrocautery or by allowing it to fall off on its own.

Second, familial polyposis is also known as familial adenomatosis and hereditary multiple polyps. A relatively rare genetic disease that is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. The children of an affected person have a 50% chance of also developing the disease. There is little difference between the sexes. Polyps often appear after the age of 10 and generally do not exceed 40 years old. The occurrence of polyps is confined to the colon and rectum. It is multiple. It is a tumor-like polyp that will eventually become cancerous. The clinical manifestations include bloody stools, diarrhea, weight loss and other symptoms. Treatment mainly involves surgery to remove the diseased colon and rectum. There is also a variant of the disease characterized by multiple polyps in the colon combined with tumors of the small intestine, stomach, bones, and skin. This disease is called Gardner's syndrome

What are the symptoms of intestinal polyps? Most adenomatous polyps of the large intestine have an insidious onset and are free of any clinical symptoms. A few present with changes in bowel habits, blood and mucus in the stool, loose stools, increased frequency of bowel movements, varying degrees of abdominal discomfort, and occasionally systemic symptoms such as abdominal pain, weight loss, and anemia. In very rare cases, tumors may protrude from the anus during defecation. Cases with a family history often provide clues to the diagnosis of polyps. Some typical extraintestinal symptoms often indicate the possibility of polyposis. Some patients often seek medical treatment due to extraintestinal symptoms, which should not be ignored. Since this disease has few clinical symptoms, it is easy to be ignored or missed. Therefore, the diagnosis of colon polyps must first improve the understanding of the disease. Anyone with unexplained blood in the stool or gastrointestinal symptoms, especially middle-aged and elderly men over 40 years old, should pay attention to further examination to increase the detection and diagnosis rate of colorectal polyps.
