If we are not in coastal areas, the sea cucumbers we eat are all dried, and fresh sea cucumbers are rarely seen. Therefore, we need to soak dried sea cucumbers before eating them. So, how to soak sea cucumbers quickly? Let’s take a look below.

First prepare the tools: purified water or mineral water, and absolutely oil-free containers. Some dried sea cucumbers.

Cold water soak

To soften the dried sea cucumber, put it in an oil-free container with pure water or mineral water at room temperature for 24 hours, and change the water every 8 hours.

Effect after 24 hours: The sea cucumber has grown a little bigger. It is important to note that it must not come into contact with oil or other impurities, otherwise it will affect the quality of soaking. Everyone must remember this.

Soak the sea cucumber until it is soft. After 24 hours, pick up the sea cucumber and squeeze it with your hands. If it is completely squeezed through. If there are no lumps, it means the first step of soaking is successful. If there are still lumps, continue soaking until all the sea cucumbers have completed this step.

After completing the first step: start to open the sea cucumber by cutting along the opening of the sea cucumber with oil-free scissors.

Remove the sand spout: After cutting, remove the sand spout and teeth, and the sand spout will remain in the circle.

The sand mouth and teeth that are picked off are similar to lime and can be picked off directly with your hands.

The second step is boiling: clean the sea cucumber with its teeth removed and put it into a pot of pure water, boil the water, then reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid and simmer for 25-30 minutes. After cooking, turn off the heat and continue to cover with a lid and simmer for 2 hours. The second step is completed.

The third step is soaking in ice water: The purpose of soaking in ice water is to make the sea cucumbers swell better. Sea cucumbers shrink when heated and expand when cooled, it's a magical thing. Put the steamed sea cucumber into the safe layer of the refrigerator with new purified water and ice cubes. This is what we call a constant temperature layer (non-frozen). If there are no ice cubes, you can put it directly in the refrigerator.

Hot water soak: Ice water soak can last for 24-48 hours, changing the water every 8 hours. In this way, you can magically discover that the sea cucumber is slowly swelling!

After soaking the sea cucumbers, drain the water, wrap them one by one with plastic wrap, and then freeze them in the refrigerator. Every time you want to eat them, take them out, soak them in cold water, and eat them the way you like. It's quick and convenient!
