What can I use to wash silver to make it brighter

Silver is a relatively precious metal. Many people like to use silver to make some decorations to wear. If you do not pay attention to cleaning in daily life, it may cause the silver to oxidize and turn yellow and black. In fact, as long as you wear silver jewelry frequently and wipe it frequently, this situation will not occur. If it turns black and yellow, you can use certain methods to deal with it.

The simple method of processing electroplated silver jewelry is as follows:

1. First, go to a nearby Chinese medicine store or pharmacy to buy a pack of alum; 2. Then boil the silver jewelry you are wearing with water in a ratio of <water 10: alum 1> (the water must be boiling); 3. Take out the silver jewelry and put it in cold water, then use a soft brush (such as a toothbrush) dipped in toothpaste, laundry detergent or salad strip to clean it; 4. Dry it with a hair dryer, then wipe it with suede and it will be as bright as new

Silver is also chemically stable and has strong corrosion resistance. However, sulfur, nitric acid and oxides in the air and other natural media have a certain corrosive effect on silver. When silver jewelry is worn for a long time, sulfur and silver will combine to form a black silver sulfide film on the surface of the silver jewelry. It will appear as some tiny spots at first, and then spread into pieces, forming what we usually call silver scale or silver mold, which turns black and seriously affects the surface color and gloss of the silver jewelry.

When silver turns black, what to do:

(1): Soak the jewelry in a sodium bicarbonate (commonly known as baking soda) solution and then add a few pieces of broken aluminum sheets under the jewelry. Heat them together to remove the black spots and restore the original color. The reason is that aluminum reacts with sodium bicarbonate to release hydrogen, and hydrogen can quickly reduce the sulfide black spots to metallic silver and release sulfur.

(2): Buy a pack of developing powder for developing photos, add 1 kg of clean water and stir to make a solution. Soak the silver jewelry in it for 5 minutes, then wash it with clean water and wipe it with a soft cloth. (3): Wash with a 1% hot soap solution, then moisten the surface with sodium thiosulfate solution, and then wipe with a flannel cloth to make the silver jewelry clean. (4): Using ammonia solution as cleaning solution is widely used in traditional jewelry industry, but its effect is slightly inferior to phosphoric acid cleaning solution.
