What does hyperbaric oxygen mainly treat

What does hyperbaric oxygen mainly treat

When it comes to hyperbaric oxygen, many people may misunderstand that it is a type of oxygen with very high pressure, but hyperbaric oxygen is actually a type of oxygen therapy equipment with very high concentration. This is a new type of treatment for brain injuries. It allows patients to stimulate brain blood and body functions in a high-concentration oxygen environment. It has a good stimulating effect on patients suffering from hypoxia or suffocation. Of course, its treatment scope is not limited to the brain.

Diseases that are more effectively treated include:

1. Various poisonings, such as CO poisoning, carbon dioxide poisoning, hydrogen sulfide poisoning, cyanide poisoning, ammonia poisoning, phosgene poisoning, pesticide poisoning, chemical drug poisoning, etc.

2. Cerebral hypoxia, cerebral edema, decompression sickness, etc. caused by drowning, suicide, electric shock, anesthesia accidents and other reasons.

3. Cardiovascular system: coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock.

4. Digestive system: gastric, duodenal ulcers, and postoperative ulcers.

5. Infection: gas gangrene, tetanus and other anaerobic infections, viral encephalitis, etc.

6. Air embolism.

7. Cerebral thrombosis, cerebral embolism, cerebral atrophy, cerebral ischemia, cerebral contusion, post-traumatic brain syndrome, osteomyelitis, paraplegia, peripheral nerve injury, and multiple neuritis.

8. Skin transplantation, replantation of severed limbs (fingers), vasculitis, intractable ulcers, osteofascial compartment syndrome, postoperative wound failure, arterial embolism, poor bone healing, radiation osteomyelitis, and crush injuries.

9. Neonatal asphyxia, cerebral palsy before 3 years old, etc.

10. Central retinochoroiditis, retinal artery embolism, sudden deafness, periodontitis, and oral ulcers.

11. Dermatological diseases: pityriasis rosea, eczema vulgaris, erythema nodosum, scleroderma, neuropathic or diabetic dermatitis, etc.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen at a pressure greater than one atmosphere. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides a new scientific and effective auxiliary treatment method for the treatment of brain trauma, and has important practical significance for improving the prognosis of patients with brain trauma, increasing the cure rate, and reducing the disability rate.

Principle and function

1. Effect of pressure: When the pressure of bubbles in the body increases, their volume will shrink. Reduce the scope of infarction; facilitate the dissolution of bubbles in the blood.

2. Pressure effect and vasoconstriction effect: Hyperbaric oxygen has an α-adrenaline-like effect that causes vasoconstriction, reduces local blood volume, and is beneficial for cerebral edema, as well as relief of edema after burns or crush injuries. It should be noted that although local blood supply is reduced, the amount of oxygen carried to the tissues through the blood is increased.

3. Antibacterial effect: Oxygen itself is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which can fight not only anaerobic bacteria but also aerobic bacteria.
