I am not clear-headed and always want to sleep

A unclear mind and constant desire to sleep can seriously affect a person's physical health and daily life. These symptoms are usually caused by narcolepsy. The incidence of narcolepsy is extremely high among the elderly. The main causes of narcolepsy in the elderly include: environmental factors, drug factors, brain factors or malnutrition. After discovering that an elderly person has narcolepsy, it is important to take active measures to treat the condition based on the cause!

1. Environmental factors

If the elderly live a lonely and monotonous life and live in a lonely environment, and they often do not like to move and are prone to drowsiness due to poor physical strength, poor heart function, or bone and joint diseases. Therefore, after understanding the reasons for the elderly's sleepiness, children should pay attention to arranging daily lives for the elderly, and take care to organize appropriate activities that are suitable for the characteristics of the elderly, so that the elderly feel that their lives are fulfilling and meaningful, and thus get rid of loneliness.

2. Drug factors

It mainly refers to the side effects of sleeping pills, because some sleeping pills have a longer duration of action. In addition, if the elderly have chronic renal failure or hypoalbuminemia, they are prone to after-effects of sleeping pills, which manifest as poor spirits, fatigue and drowsiness after getting up the next day. Therefore, when examining the sleepiness of the elderly, if it is found that the medications they are taking and the sleeping pills have a certain relationship with the sleepiness, the sleeping pills should be discontinued, replaced or the dosage should be reduced.

3. Brain factors

When elderly people become drowsy, the first thing to consider is whether they have brain disease. For example, when the elderly suffer from brain inflammation, brain tumors, brain atrophy, cerebral arteriosclerosis and cerebrovascular disease, they may become drowsy.

4. Malnutrition and reduced energy intake.

Malnutrition can easily lead to drowsiness and sleepiness. Supplementing protein can improve sleepiness. There is also another type of illness called narcolepsy, which usually begins after puberty. The main symptom is daytime sleepiness, which manifests as sleepiness regardless of time and place. For example, sleep attacks may occur when talking to guests or at work. Narcolepsy generally does not cause other organic diseases.
