As a complete body system, all the organs in our body are closely related. We often hear people say that this is the reason why ancient people often used the four methods of observation, auscultation, questioning and palpation to diagnose illnesses, because diseases in the body can be manifested through various signs. There is a more popular saying now that the color of urine can reveal a variety of diseases. To give a common example, when we have a cold, our urine becomes very yellow. Why is that? Normal urine is light yellow. Too light or almost colorless urine is caused by drinking too much water, which can be seen in diabetes insipidus and diabetes. Yellow urine can be caused by fever, drinking too little water, or excessive vomiting and diarrhea that lead to dehydration of the body. Yellow urine can also be caused by taking drugs such as riboflavin and AstraZeneca. It is not surprising that urine turns yellow if you take carrots, carrots, or drink or eat foods containing yellow dyes. The yellowish brown, yellowish green to brownish green color of urine may be caused by rhubarb, senna leaves, and cascara in acidic urine, but it is more often caused by increased urinary bilirubin and urobilinogen caused by hepatocellular, obstructive or hemolytic jaundice. Brown or brown-black urine can be seen in acidic urine due to urinary tract bleeding. In addition, phenol poisoning and levodopa, nitric acid, lysol, formic acid, etc. can also cause the urine to be brown-black. When we mention red urine, we immediately think of hematuria. In fact, it can also be seen in myoglobinuria, hemoglobinuria, porphyria and other diseases with secondary urinary porphyrin increase. In addition, senna leaves and phenolphthalein for catharsis, rifampicin for tuberculosis, aminopyrine for fever reduction and santobuc for anthelmintic can also cause red urine. Red urine is more common after eating beets and foods containing red pigments. Methylene blue, indigo carmine, wood oil, etc. can make the urine dark green or blue. In the case of certain diseases, due to excessive production of urocyanin and indigo, the urine will also be blue, such as in small intestinal obstruction, typhoid fever, peritonitis, intestinal motility disorders, or chronic gastritis, gastric cancer, decreased gastric acid secretion, and increased intestinal protein putrefaction and decomposition. Occasionally, congenital blue urine can be seen, such as in congenital renal neutral aminoaciduria, blue diaper syndrome, etc. Milky white urine is most commonly seen in chyluria caused by filariasis or other reasons; if the urine is white and oily, it is fatty urine, which is more common in nephrotic syndrome, fractures, diabetes, and carbon monoxide poisoning. If there is too much phosphate and urate in the urine, massive salturia will occur. The urine is also milky white. The ancients said, "To know something by looking at it is called divine." Although you cannot diagnose all diseases by looking at the color of urine, you can certainly know one or two of them. You may as well give it a try. |
