What is a hermaphrodite

What is a hermaphrodite

In life, many people don't know enough about hermaphrodites. In fact, as long as the body shows the phenomenon of hermaphroditism, it can be called a hermaphrodite. This group of people is also called intersex. Many patients show symptoms of this disease without knowing it. The most obvious symptom is that the body will change. This situation will affect the patient's work and life. So what is a hermaphrodite?

First, what is a hermaphrodite? There are many types of hermaphrodites, but the root cause is abnormal meiosis when sperm or egg cells are produced. That is, abnormal meiosis produces abnormal sperm or egg cells, the abnormal sperm or egg cells combine to produce abnormal fertilized eggs, and the abnormal fertilized eggs develop into hermaphrodites. Generally speaking, a person's gender is determined by the sex chromosomes XY. People with XX chromosomes develop into females, and people with XY chromosomes develop into males.

Second, hermaphrodites generally have both sex chromosomes at the chromosomal level, such as XXY. People with double sex chromosomes (XXY for example) may have both male and female secondary sexual characteristics during development, and may even have both male and female genitals (represented by testicles and ovaries). Hermaphrodites with both male and female genitalia can undergo surgery to remove the genitals of one sex, thereby transforming into a normal person at the glandular level. But in fact, due to chromosomal abnormalities, their chances of suffering from sex chromosome diseases are higher than normal people. The highest estimate of the incidence of hermaphroditism is 1% of live births with some degree of ambiguous sex, and between 0.1% and 0.2% of live births with ambiguous sex come to medical attention, including those who undergo surgery to eliminate the condition. Others have estimated the incidence of true hermaphroditism to be much lower, at around 0.018%.

What is a hermaphrodite? A hermaphrodite is a person who has both male and female reproductive organs in his or her body, but it is still possible to identify which gender he or she is more inclined to through chromosome testing. The probability of hermaphrodites is very rare. In addition to genetic factors, another possibility is infection during pregnancy.
