Is it normal to have bubbles in beeswax?

Beeswax is a relatively soft solid. Unlike crystals, beeswax does not have a fixed melting point. It will melt at high temperatures. Beeswax is divided into natural beeswax and artificial beeswax. Some people find that there are some small round bubbles inside the beeswax. This is because the beeswax is penetrated by the acid in the soil, so it is normal to have some bubbles inside the beeswax. You can even judge the quality of beeswax by the bubbles inside it.

It is normal to have bubbles inside beeswax. No, bubbles in beeswax are formed because the acid content inside the beeswax exceeds 60% or it is infiltrated by acidic soil. But not all beeswax contains bubbles, because the presence or absence of bubbles is also related to the raw materials, geology, etc. For example, Baltic beeswax is not corroded by acid for a long time, so it has a higher transparency and no bubbles inside, which makes it special and popular.

How to identify the bubbles in natural beeswax

The bubbles in natural beeswax are round, and they sparkle in the sun, which is what we call "golden sand honey" if it is artificially synthesized beeswax. The bubbles inside will appear long and flat, which is one of the ways to distinguish natural beeswax from artificial synthetic beeswax, but it is not absolute. If you want to make a more accurate judgment, you can also look at weathering patterns, patina and irregular shapes, which are also important points of identification.

Does the size of the bubbles have anything to do with the texture of the beeswax?

According to relevant surveys, high-quality beeswax must meet two conditions: dense bubbles and small diameter. The denser the bubbles and the smaller the diameter, the higher the quality of the beeswax; the more bubbles and the larger the diameter, the more opaque and denser the beeswax is, because the larger the diameter of the beeswax bubbles, the more obvious the diffuse reflection of light by the bubble walls distributed on the surface, and the rougher its texture. So the size of the bubbles is related to the texture of the beeswax.
