What are the symptoms of Qi stagnation and blood stasis

What are the symptoms of Qi stagnation and blood stasis

Many women suffer from qi stagnation and blood stasis. Studies have shown that among women, most of those who suffer from qi stagnation and blood stasis are introverted people. They are prone to depression, especially when they encounter things that are not going well. They often cannot regulate their negative emotions well, which leads to liver qi stagnation. Over time, they are prone to symptoms of qi stagnation and blood stasis, such as irregular menstruation and blood clots during menstruation.

1. The concept of Qi stagnation and blood stasis

"Qi Yu" constitution refers to a series of symptoms caused by bad mood and stagnation of Qi in the body, which manifests as depression, anxiety and sorrow, frequent sighing, chest and flank distension, irregular menstruation, etc. "Blood stasis" constitution refers to a series of symptoms caused by poor blood circulation or blood stasis in the body; symptoms include body pain, dark complexion, blue lips, irregular menstruation or dysmenorrhea in women, etc. Clinically, "Qi stagnation" and "blood stasis" can affect each other. The original poor flow of Qi may lead to blood stasis, or blood stasis may lead to poor Qi flow. They often coexist and are called "Qi stagnation and blood stasis."

2. Treatment methods for Qi stagnation and blood stasis

1. Regulate your emotions

The liver has the function of regulating Qi and assisting in the circulation of Qi and blood; therefore, keeping a happy mood, being less upset, and solving problems in a timely manner can change the state of "Qi stagnation" and regulate Qi and blood, which is the basis of health preservation.

2. Increase your exercise

If you sit or stand for long periods of time and lack exercise, your blood will stagnate and your body will feel tired and painful. Therefore, you should increase your daily exercise to ensure smooth blood flow.

3. Avoid the cold

Living warmly. Coldness causes blood to coagulate, and when the blood vessels are affected by the cold, blood stagnates and is blocked, just like frozen water pipes. Therefore, the place where you live should be warm and sunny, you should use air conditioning less often and take care to keep warm.

4. Pay attention to your diet

Eat more foods that have the function of promoting qi and blood circulation, such as: garlic, ginger, fennel, onion, cinnamon, citrus, hawthorn, etc.

Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption

Excessive smoking and alcoholism will cause carbon monoxide to combine with hemoglobin in the body and slow down blood circulation. Especially for people with blood stasis constitution, it will cause more phlegm to accumulate in the body, thus forming blood stasis.

Get enough sleep

On average, adults need 7-8 hours of high-quality sleep every night to ensure good health. However, many people with blood stasis constitution often suffer from lack of sleep and immune system disorders due to work pressure.

Foot bath

Taking a hot water bath every day can help improve the circulation of Qi and blood throughout the body. If you can take medicinal baths and massage regularly, the effect will be better.

3. Dietary considerations for qi stagnation and blood stasis

Eating greasy and sweet foods, or consuming too much salt or not drinking enough water will cause the blood to become excessively viscous, eventually leading to poor blood circulation and causing blood stasis. People with qi stagnation and blood stasis constitution should eat less salt and MSG, and avoid eating sweet potatoes, taro, and other foods that are easy to cause bloating; they should not eat too much fatty meat, cream, crab roe, egg yolk, fish roe, fried foods, and cold drinks to prevent increased blood lipids, blockage of blood vessels, and affecting the circulation of qi and blood.
