What to do if your skin becomes red and painful due to sunburn

Because the outdoor temperature is very high in summer and the sunlight is relatively strong, it is easy to get sunburned as long as you work under the scorching sun for a few hours. After sunburn, the skin is very likely to become red, stinging and peeling, which is very painful for patients with sunburn. So what should you do if your skin becomes red and painful due to sunburn? Let’s take a closer look at it below.

Here’s how:

1. When the skin appears red but there is no other abnormality, it is a mild sunburn. You can use light salt water for cold compress and it can usually recover.

2. When the skin is red and accompanied by a burning sensation, disinfect it with light salt water. At the same time, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. You can apply fresh cucumber slices to the affected area to increase the skin's moisture, elasticity and recovery ability.

3. When the skin is red and painful, use sulfur soap to take a bath to relieve itching and kill bacteria. You can apply fresh aloe vera, or you can apply some silicone cream or cod liver oil ointment to lubricate and protect the newly grown epidermis. Pay attention to rest, drink plenty of boiled water, and eat more fruits and vegetables to supplement vitamins.

4. If the skin is red and swollen, accompanied by burning and pain, apply burn ointment to the affected area and avoid sun exposure. In this case, you must use some after-sun repair products, otherwise the pigmentation will be a bit serious.

5. If red spots, blisters, etc. appear on the skin and it itches and hurts like a burning fire, it is a severe sunburn and requires application of moist burn ointment and oral desensitization drugs. The blisters can be punctured, but the epidermis should not be peeled off. If the condition worsens, seek medical attention immediately.

Notice:

1. Do not go out in the sun again after being sunburned, as the sunburn will be doubled.

2. After sunburn, scaling and peeling will occur within a few days after treatment, and temporary pigmentation will be left. This is normal. Do not pull off the dandruff with your hands.

3. When the skin shows early symptoms of sunburn such as redness, dryness and slight peeling, it is not suitable to use general cleaning products. When cleaning the skin, it is best to use weakly acidic cleansers that match the skin's pH value.

4. After sunburn, you can only apply cold compresses and wash your face with cold boiled water. Do not use hot water, which will aggravate the pain.

5. If your back is sunburned, sprinkle talcum powder on the bed before going to bed to reduce friction between the bed and your skin.
