Duodenal ulcer

Duodenal ulcer, also known as gastric and duodenal ulcer, is a relatively common gastrointestinal disease. After the disease occurs, it will be accompanied by symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, acid reflux, and belching. The biggest feature of duodenal bulb ulcer is that it is easy to recur. In addition to taking conventional treatment methods, it is also very important to adjust your diet on a daily basis, which will help promote disease recovery.

Dietary taboos for duodenal ulcer:

1. Avoid drinking alcohol, strong tea and coffee. Especially alcohol, the ethanol it contains can directly irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa and make ulcers worse.

2. Avoid frozen or overheated food. Food and drink should be at a moderate temperature, and tea and soup should not be too hot.

3. Avoid eating without rules and without restraint. It is advisable to eat small meals frequently to avoid hunger pains. You can eat one or two soda crackers when you feel pain.

4. Avoid eating too much meat, too much oil, and fried food. The diet should mainly consist of easily digestible food. Meat should be cooked until well-cooked, and vegetables should not be half-cooked.

5. Avoid eating large amounts of MSG, spicy and sour, and overly salty foods. The diet should be light. Strong flavors will stimulate the secretion of gastric acid. A small amount of ginger and pepper can warm the stomach and enhance the protective effect of the gastric mucosa.

Eat small, frequent meals

Eat more than three meals a day, like six small meals, as long as you feel comfortable. Avoid eating before going to bed, and do not eat too much or too full, so as to prevent excessive expansion of the gastric antrum and increase the secretion of gastric acid.

Pay attention to nutritional balance

The food should be mainly nutritious, easily digestible soft food, and eat more food rich in plant protein and vitamins. Excessive consumption of certain foods or drinks may make ulcers worse. You can eat cooked millet, white rice porridge, goat milk, yogurt, white cheese, and kefir. If symptoms are severe, eat some soft foods such as rice soup, avocado, bananas, potatoes, and pumpkin. Blend all the vegetables before cooking. Occasionally, eat some steamed vegetables, such as carrots and broccoli.

Increase fiber intake

Try baby food

If the ulcer is bleeding, you can feed baby food and add milder fiber such as guar gum and psyllium. These foods are easily digestible and nutritious. And no chemical ingredients.

Drinking juice

Fresh cabbage juice is rich in glutamine, which promotes the growth of mucin-producing cells and is beneficial for protecting the gastric mucosa. Drink the juice immediately after it is made and do not store it. When you have ulcer pain, you can drink a large glass to dilute the stomach acid and flush it down the stomach and duodenum.

Avoid spicy foods

Avoid spicy spices or drinks, and if garlic or champagne make your stomach feel like it's on fire, avoid these foods. Foods that irritate the stomach vary from person to person, but spicy foods are clearly not good for many patients.

Avoid milk

Milk has long been considered an excellent buffer of stomach acid and can be used to resolve ulcers. But now milk's counter-effects have been confirmed. Although it can temporarily buffer stomach acid, the calcium and protein in the milk will stimulate the secretion of more stomach acid later, making the stomach more uncomfortable. Almond milk is a good substitute.

Avoid high-fat foods

High-fat foods, alcohol, sugar, and chocolate can relax the sphincter and cause reflux, so if you have heartburn symptoms, you should avoid these foods. In addition, eat less indigestible or rough foods, and it is best to avoid citrus juice, tomato products, coffee, alcohol, and all foods that directly irritate the esophagus.

Slow digestion aids digestion

Chewing slowly and thoroughly is definitely helpful for digestion. This doesn't mean that you need to take a particularly long time to eat, but chewing your food thoroughly and avoiding stress when eating can give your digestion a good start.
