There is something in the eye that is grinding the eyeball

In our lives, we will inevitably encounter situations where foreign objects enter our eyes. When we feel something rubbing against our eyes, or even when our eyes are painful or we are tearing, we should not rub our eyes with our hands. Because this may cause foreign matter to scratch the cornea. Generally speaking, we need some tips and methods to remove foreign objects from the eyes.

The correct way to deal with foreign objects in the eyes:

1. When foreign objects enter the eyes, you should gently close your eyes for a while, or gently lift the upper eyelid with your hand. Generally, foreign objects attached to the surface of the eyes can be discharged by themselves with tears.

2. If the foreign body in the eye cannot be expelled by itself and there is still pain, the foreign body may be on the conjunctiva inside the upper eyelid. You can turn the eyelid over to find the foreign body, gently wipe it off with a wet cotton swab or a clean handkerchief, or rinse it with clean water, and the pain will disappear immediately.

3. If you still cannot find the foreign body in your eye after turning over your eyelids, the foreign body may be on the cornea. Do not try to remove it by yourself. Ask someone to help find it, or go to the hospital for treatment.

Handle according to the type of foreign matter:

1. When foreign objects such as sand and dust enter the eye

Pinch the upper eyelid with two fingers, gently lift it forward, and blow air into the eye to stimulate tears to flush out the sand and dust. You can also open the eyelids to check and gently wipe out the sand and dust with a clean gauze or handkerchief.

2. Dangerous particles such as iron filings, glass, or porcelain enter the eye

Avoid rubbing or wiping your eyes back and forth, especially when there is something embedded in the black eyeball. You should close your eyes, then place a clean wine glass on the eye with foreign matter, cover it with gauze, secure it with a bandage and seek medical attention. Try not to move your eyeball.

3. Sulfuric acid, alkali and other highly corrosive chemicals splashed into the eyes

Timely and regular flushing of the eyes during on-site first aid is the primary guarantee to avoid blindness. Immediately find clean water nearby to rinse the injured eyes. When flushing, turn the injured eye downwards and use your index finger and thumb to pull open the eyelid to flush out as much corrosive chemicals as possible. If there is a basin of water nearby, have the injured person immediately immerse his eyes in the water and blink continuously.

4. Quicklime splashes into eyes

First, do not rub it with your hands, and second, do not rinse it directly with water. The correct way is to use a cotton swab or a corner of a clean handkerchief to remove the quicklime powder, and then rinse the injured eye repeatedly with clean water for at least 15 minutes. After rinsing, you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately.

The "eyelid tugging and blinking" method

1. Use your fingers to pinch your eyelashes and then pull down your upper eyelid.

2. Then press your upper eyelid with your upper finger and blink quickly several times.

3. Loosen your eyelids and check if there are any small particles under your eyes. If so, it means that the contents of your eyes have been cleaned out. If not, repeat the previous steps.

"Running water flushing" method

1. Scoop up a little cold water with your hands.

2. Open the eye where the foreign object has entered and splash water into the eye.

3. Then dry your eyes immediately and blink quickly. If the foreign body still does not come out, repeat the process a few more times. If that doesn't work, see a doctor.

4. Put a few drops of eye drops, then tilt your head towards the eye where the debris is stuck and blink quickly a few times.

Tips:

Use your index finger and thumb to open your eyelids. Look in the mirror and roll your eyes until you can see your hair. At this time, hold your eyelids and cough hard, and the foreign body will come out. This method works every time!

Let the used tea bags cool and then apply to your eyes.

If the above methods still cannot remove the foreign body from the eye, then see a doctor.

Never poke or touch your eyeballs with your hands.

Use a cloth dampened with warm water to gently wipe your eyelids.

Slowly place a strand of hair into your eye and use it to "catch" the dust particles. The specific method is to firmly grasp the ends of the hair with both hands - just like using a toothpick, then bend the hair so that the raised part contacts the dust particle and then pulls out the particle. Be careful not to touch your eyeballs during this process.

Usually after a foreign body is expelled or removed from the eye, the eye still feels sore and uncomfortable, as if there is still a foreign body. This is because the eye has not yet adapted to the new environment or there is an injury on the cornea. As long as you check and confirm that there is no foreign body, you will soon return to normal after a while or by using some antibiotic eye drops and eye ointment.
