The difference between blood transfusion and plasma transfusion

The difference between blood transfusion and plasma transfusion

Everyone is very familiar with blood transfusion. Many people have donated blood. The donated blood is given to people in need of blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is now a treatment option. Now, not only blood transfusions are available, but also plasma transfusions, cold precipitate transfusions and component blood transfusions. Depending on the disease, the transfused blood is also very different. Plasma contains many nutrients and is beneficial for the recovery of many patients after surgery.

What does blood transfusion do?

The therapeutic effects of blood transfusion include replenishing blood volume, maintaining blood volume, and raising blood pressure to resist shock and prevent hemorrhagic shock.

In addition to these measures, red blood cells with oxygen-carrying capacity can be supplied to correct acute hypoxia caused by a decrease in red blood cells or their reduced oxygen-carrying capacity; various coagulation factors can be supplemented to correct blood coagulation disorders in certain patients. Therefore, different types of blood transfusions can be used depending on the patient and the specific purpose of blood transfusion therapy.

If acute massive blood loss causes a drop in blood pressure, whole blood should be transfused. Patients with severe anemia have insufficient red blood cells, but their total blood volume is not necessarily low, so it is best to transfuse them with concentrated red blood cell suspension; patients with extensive burns mainly have reduced plasma, so it is best to transfuse them with plasma or plasma substitutes; for patients with certain hemorrhagic diseases, concentrated platelet suspension or plasma containing coagulation factors can be transfused to enhance coagulation ability and promote hemostasis.

Blood transfusion can quickly alleviate anemia or even completely correct it. Although its effect is only temporary, it is still the most important measure in the symptomatic treatment of anemia. Blood transfusion is by no means harmless; severe transfusion reactions can be fatal. Therefore, the indications for blood transfusion must be strictly controlled, and blood transfusion should not be abused without clear indications.

The role of plasma transfusion

1. Plasma is the main component of blood. There are two main types of blood: plasma and blood cells. The main function of plasma is to transport blood cells. Plasma can transport some substances needed to maintain human life activities, such as some electrolytes and proteins, and it can also carry waste produced in the human body.

2. About 90% of plasma is water, and then there are some plasma proteins, proteins, and electrolytes. The plasma protein in plasma is a general term for multiple proteins. Plasma proteins can maintain plasma colloid osmotic pressure. It can also maintain the acid-base balance of the blood in the body, transport nutrients and excrete waste.

3. Plasma plays a very important role in the body. If you stop for too short a time, it may cause hypotension. Only with sufficient time can the body maintain normal operation, and the school can also transport carbon dioxide and oxygen. The normal pH value of human plasma is between 7.35 and 7.45.

Note:

It should be noted that the role of sleep in the human body cannot be ignored. If there is too little plasma, it may cause the human body to be in a state of low blood pressure. The plasma proteins contained in plasma can also be separated into albumin, globulin and fibrinogen by salting out method. Inorganic salts in plasma mainly exist in ionic state.
