Tips to prevent your big toe from breaking through your socks

Tips to prevent your big toe from breaking through your socks

As the saying goes, life is full of wisdom. This statement is really true. You should know that there are little tips everywhere in life. For example, we wear socks almost every day. You should know that the loss rate of socks is quite high. Especially for some people, a pair of new socks often have holes after being worn for only a few times, and the broken place is always the same, that is, the front end of the big toe. So what are the tricks for this problem? Let's learn about it together below.

1. Wearing large-sized shoes can easily cause the big toe to curl up

The average foot width of Chinese people is relatively wide. Usually when buying shoes, Chinese people prefer to choose larger-sized shoes because they are limited by the width of the shoe last. This makes the shoe last relatively wider and makes them feel more comfortable when wearing. This is especially true for people who suffer from hallux valgus.

Wearing shoes that are one size larger may make your feet too long compared to your own feet, and there is too much space in the front of the foot, which causes the big toe to push up when walking, resulting in a habitual upturned big toe. In this way, the big toe part of the sock will of course be under relatively greater pressure, and it is more likely to form holes. People who are born with a significantly longer big toe may also experience this condition.

2. Two ways to solve the problem of upturned hallux

1. Instep muscle stretching exercise: Sit flat on a chair, place your right ankle gently above your left knee, place your left palm toward the sole of your foot, and gently put your fingers into the gaps between your toes. Grasp the sole of your foot, and pull it toward the center of your foot until the instep muscles feel slightly sore. Stay for 15 seconds and then switch to the other foot. Do 3 rounds each.

2. Simple transverse arch support: Use kinesio tape to fix the transverse arch of the foot to improve the phenomenon of toes curling up. It also improves the phenomenon of hallux valgus and can slightly slow down and limit the angle of hallux valgus.

Ultimately, you still need to start by buying a pair of shoes that fit your last width to effectively improve the situation. It is also a more proactive preventive method for foot health. Choosing the right shoes can start with the following four elements: a hard enough heel guard, a wide enough last, a suitable shoe length, and a shock-absorbing sole!
