My toes are swollen and hurt when I touch them. What's going on?

Toes are also part of the human body. Many people do not pay much attention to their toes. However, in clinical practice, some diseases occur in the toes. Some people find that their toes are swollen and painful, especially when walking because the swelling and pain are more obvious due to the pressure of the shoes. In such cases, it is necessary to find out the cause and prescribe the right medicine when alleviating it. Why is my toe swollen and painful when touched?

1. Toe inflammation

The possibility of toe inflammation is high, which is mainly caused by bacterial infection and needs to be treated actively, otherwise it may lead to toe necrosis. If there is obvious swelling, pain, and fever in the toes, it is recommended that the hospital perform toe incision to reduce decompression and supplement with anti-inflammatory treatment; if the symptoms are not serious, general anti-inflammatory treatment is sufficient, pay attention to reduce toe movement, wear slippers more often, and use warm water compress every day to accelerate improvement.

2. Wearing inappropriate shoes

Frequently wearing pointed-toe shoes or high-heeled shoes has a triangular front, which forces the front of the foot to be squeezed into a narrow triangular area. In addition, the upper is made of leather and has no elasticity, so the big toe is forced to turn outward and the little toe to turn inward. High heels increase the pressure on the feet and over-stretch the ligaments in the joints, resulting in hallux valgus.

3. Genetic factors

About half of patients have a genetic cause. Although the occurrence of hallux valgus is related to inappropriate shoes, it is mainly caused by certain defects in the bones and ligaments that make up the foot. Standing or walking for a long time will aggravate ligament damage, causing the onset of the disease or accelerating the progression of the disease.

4. Others

Most heel pain is caused by inflammation of the ligaments. The human heel is composed of 33 joints and more than 100 tendons and ligaments. The ligaments on the sole of the foot are tightly connected to the bottom of the heel bone. When people walk, huge pulling force is concentrated in a narrow area on the ligament under the heel bone. Repeated pulling and friction can easily lead to inflammation of the junction of the ligament and bone, causing pain. At the same time, weight also has a certain relationship with heel pain. Generally speaking, fatter people are more likely to suffer from heel pain.
