Winter melon is large and easy to store. Winter melon that has been stored for a long time will taste extremely delicious when cut into soup or stir-fried. As long as the storage temperature of the winter melon is controlled below 20℃ and the humidity is controlled at around 85%, it can basically be stored for more than four months, or even for a year. Therefore, storing winter melon is the first choice for many necessities. Winter melon storage method: Winter melon is relatively resistant to storage. The suitable storage temperature is 10-20℃ and the relative humidity is about 85%. The main storage methods are indoor ground stacking and shelf storage. With proper management, the storage period can reach more than 4 months. 1. Pick the melons in the morning when the temperature is low. To prevent damage and avoid invasion of pathogens, it is advisable to cut the vines with scissors, leaving a 3 cm long stalk. After the rain, the water content of the melons is too high and they are not suitable for picking. When transporting and loading and unloading, you must move, load, transport and unload gently. Do not drop, roll or collide with it, otherwise it will easily cause damage to the flesh and is not conducive to storage. 2. Choose melons that are large and straight, with both ends basically the same size, and free of diseases, spots and insect pests for storage. This kind of melon has thick skin and firm flesh, with solid internal pulp tissue and relatively low water content. It has strong disease resistance and is more durable in storage. 3. For storage room disinfection , choose a cool, ventilated and dry room as the storage room. Burn 5 to 10 grams of sulfur per cubic meter of storage room space for fumigation and seal the storage room for 24 hours. You can also use 1% to 2% formalin solution to spray the ground and surrounding walls. 4. First, spread a layer of wheat straw or rice straw on the ground, and then pile up 2 to 3 layers of melons. When arranging the melons, try to keep them in the same state as when they were growing in the field. Those that originally grew lying on the ground should be placed flat, and those that originally grew hanging should be placed with the stalk upright. There are empty passages between each pile to allow ventilation and heat dissipation. 5. Storage management: Pay attention to ventilation during storage. Open doors and windows on sunny days to keep the indoor air fresh, dry and cool. When the weather gets cold and the indoor temperature is too low, cover the melon pile with straw or rice straw to keep out the cold and keep warm. Check the melon pile regularly and pick out moldy and rotten melons in time to prevent the spread of melon diseases. In the storage room, bamboo poles and wood are used to build storage racks layer by layer. Each layer is first covered with straw and then the melons are placed. This can increase the storage capacity of melons and is also beneficial for indoor ventilation. |
