Protein worms are a type of intestinal animal that can wriggle. They have a complete set of digestive organs and belong to the phylum Nematodes. There are several reasons for the production of protein worms. The first is that the water has not been changed for too long and has become old and fertile water. The second is that too much food is fed and the fish cannot finish eating it. The third is that the filter cotton has not been cleaned for too long.

Ichthyophthirius is a type of protein worm that is very parasitic. It will parasitize on the skin, fins, gills, head, mouth and eyes of fish, forming cysts in the form of small white dots that are visible to the naked eye. Friends who have raised fish should be familiar with them. They are the culprit of white spot disease! It causes congestion of various tissues on the body surface. Protein worms can only survive in organic water bodies, otherwise they will soon starve to death. There are many ways to control and distribute protein worms. Let’s start with the first method, which is biological control. You can starve the small fish for a few days and then put them in a small fish tank. The deliciousness of protein worms is irresistible to fish. You can also check the filter cotton, take it out, clean it thoroughly, and extract the organic matter on the bottom bed. You can change the water in large quantities to thoroughly clean up the protein worms, so that the fish can grow healthily and safely, and you can also keep the fish tank clean and tidy, which is very beautiful.

If we find a lot of white bugs on the wall of the aquarium at home, we must first confirm whether it is protein worms. If it is confirmed that the parasite is protein worms, then it needs to be treated properly. You can use a professional filter to filter it and thoroughly clean up the protein worms. You can use a special biochemical filter (this layer of biochemical filter cotton is not for breeding nitrifying bacteria but for high-density filter cotton to have better water permeability)

If a large number of protein worms are found, a thorough cleaning is required. You can find a clean towel, wash your hands and arms, then scrub the wall of the fish tank thoroughly and change the water over a large area. This method is pollution-free. Put some small fish such as tetras or peacocks in the tank. These fish like to eat protein worms.
