Can you remove odor by rubbing alcohol under your armpits?

In real life, many people are prone to certain odors in their armpits, especially in summer. Due to the high temperature environment in summer, a large amount of sweat will easily appear in the armpits, which can easily lead to a fishy smell or sweat odor. Alcohol is very common in life. Alcohol has a disinfecting effect and can temporarily remove the odor of the armpits, but it cannot be used for a long time.

Can rubbing alcohol on your armpits help remove odor?

The function of alcohol is to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria, and remove armpit odor. However, long-term use is not recommended, because alcohol will paralyze cells, making it difficult for cells to distinguish between the good and bad nutrients, and thus absorb some substances that are not good for the skin. Long-term use can also cause rough skin. Alcohol is also an oxidant. Long-term use can cause severe premature aging of the skin.

Benefits of alcohol body rub

When using alcohol to scrub the patient's skin, it can not only stimulate the dilation of the skin blood vessels of patients with high fever and increase the skin's heat dissipation capacity; but also because of its volatility, it can absorb and take away a large amount of heat, thereby lowering body temperature and relieving symptoms.

Alcohol concentration adjustment

Generally, a concentration of 30% to 50% is appropriate. The alcohol should not be too cold, the temperature should be between 32℃ and 35℃.

Precautions for rubbing alcohol on the body when having a fever

1. Place an ice pack or a wet towel on your head during a sponge bath to relieve congestion in the head and neck.

2. Although physical cooling is good for high fever, alcohol body rub is not suitable for everyone and is only recommended for adults over 16 years old.

Children under the age of 16 who use alcohol to wipe their bodies may easily suffer a sudden drop in body temperature and shock.

When children under the age of 16 have a fever, their bodies become hot and alcohol is quickly absorbed, which can easily lead to alcohol poisoning.

3. The chest, abdomen and back of the neck are sensitive to stimulation, which may cause adverse reactions such as reflex slowing of heart rate and diarrhea. Alcohol baths are not suitable.

When using alcohol for bathing, the concentration should generally be 30% to 50%. The alcohol should not be too cold, and the temperature should be between 32℃ and 35℃. After dipping gauze or handkerchief in alcohol, bathing should be done regularly, and do not rub randomly. Usually start from the child's neck, and rub from top to bottom along the outside of the upper arm to the back of the hand. Then rub through the armpit along the inside of the upper arm to the palm.

After wiping the upper limbs, wipe the back from the neck downwards. While wiping, use the other hand to gently massage and pat the back to promote blood circulation. Finally, start wiping the lower limbs from the iliac region. The method is the same as wiping the upper limbs. Wipe each part for about 3 minutes. When wiping the armpits, elbows, palms, groin, armpits, soles of the feet and other parts, the stay time should be slightly longer to improve the heat dissipation effect.
