I have severe diarrhea and keep passing water

It is already very uncomfortable for an adult to have diarrhea so severe that it causes watery diarrhea. If it is a child who has watery diarrhea, it will have a serious impact on the baby's health, and the baby will cry incessantly. What should we do if infants and young children have severe diarrhea and are passing water? What dietary and daily life issues should we pay attention to? As parents, you must be aware of these issues. If your baby's diarrhea does not improve, you need to seek medical attention immediately.

1. For diarrhea in infants, mothers should avoid eating citrus fruits

Generally speaking, watery diarrhea in babies usually occurs in the neonatal stage, especially in infants under three months old, diarrhea is very common.

If a baby who is exclusively breastfed has diarrhea, the first thing to do is to adjust the mother's diet. Generally, for full-term babies who are exclusively breastfed, the most direct cause of any physical discomfort comes from the mother. Therefore, the mother must avoid eating foods such as oranges, green dates, etc. that are likely to cause diarrhea in the baby.

2. Baby's diarrhea after adding complementary food is caused by improper food addition, which causes gastrointestinal discomfort

At this time, the mother should first find out whether the baby has added any new complementary food on the day of diarrhea or in the previous two days. The baby's stomach is delicate, and any newly added complementary food may cause gastrointestinal discomfort and lead to diarrhea.

After figuring it out, reduce the amount of complementary food by half and observe for two days. If the symptoms of diarrhea are relieved, then you can continue to eat the complementary food. If the symptoms are not relieved or even get worse, stop eating the complementary food immediately and observe. Decide whether to go to the hospital based on the situation.

Babies with loose stools can eat more apples. The pectin in apples can effectively absorb the loose stools and make the stools firm.

3. If a baby who is purely artificially fed has loose stools, there is a science to brewing milk powder.

Nowadays, many babies are raised by their grandmothers. The elderly are always worried that the milk powder is too dilute and the baby will not be full or the milk is not nutritious. In fact, this view is wrong.

Although preparing milk powder may seem simple, it actually involves a lot of knowledge. Whether the bottle is clean, the thickness of the milk powder, a sudden increase in the amount of milk, and whether the milk temperature is too high or too low can all cause the baby's stomach to be unable to adapt in time, resulting in diarrhea and watery stools.

If the diarrhea is caused by milk powder, you must adjust your milk preparation habits and strictly follow the instructions on the milk powder can. Do not increase or decrease the amount without authorization.

4. If diarrhea is caused by bacteria, it is best to go to the hospital for treatment

For gastrointestinal discomfort caused by normal food, the watery stool produced by the baby does not have any obvious pungent odor, and the shape of the water is similar to that of tap water. If the baby's diarrhea is turbid or even paste-like, and has a very pungent fishy smell, it is most likely caused by bacterial infection. It is best to go to the hospital for treatment.
