What disease can be cured by tapping the inside of the elbow

Nowadays, we often see doctors asking us to take pictures of our elbows. The inside of the elbow is mainly the elbow joint and skeleton structure. The joints can be massaged and tapped because there are some arteries and acupoints on the inside of the arm. These acupoints are good for the body and are very popular in normal times. They can also promote the unblocking of nerves and ligaments.

Elbow

Bone structures of the elbow

The elbow joint is composed of the lower end of the humerus and the upper ends of the radius and ulna. The trochlea of the humerus and the trochlear notch of the ulna constitute the humero-ulnar joint; the capitulum of the humerus and the articular concavity of the radius constitute the humeroradial joint; the annular articular surface of the radial head and the radial notch of the ulna constitute the proximal radioulnar joint. Each joint surface is covered with a layer of articular cartilage. The above three joints are collectively contained in one joint capsule.

Joint capsule and ligaments

The upper end of the joint capsule is attached to the upper edges of the coronoid fossa, radial fossa and olecranon fossa, as well as the medial edge of the humeral trochlea and the lateral edge of the humeral capitellum; the lower end is attached to the edge of the articular surface of the ulnar trochlear notch, the olecranon, the edge of the coronoid process, and the radial annular ligament. The anterior and posterior walls of the joint capsule are thin and loose, and are reinforced by ligaments on both sides. The radial collateral ligament is on the outside, running from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus to the annular ligament of the radius; the ulnar collateral ligament is on the inside, running from the medial epicondyle of the humerus to the coronoid process and olecranon of the ulna. In addition, the radial annular ligament wraps around the annular articular surface of the radial head, tightly binding the radial head to the radial notch of the ulna. This ligament is attached to the anterior and posterior edges of the radial notch of the ulna, forming a bone fibrous ring with a large upper opening and a small lower opening, which accommodates the radial head to rotate within the ring and prevents it from falling out easily.

Blood supply and innervation

The elbow joint is supplied with blood by a network of elbow arteries. Branches from the median nerve, ulnar nerve, radial nerve, and musculocutaneous nerve near the elbow joint are distributed in the elbow joint.

Fold to edit this section Elbow joint artery network

The arterial network of the elbow joint is formed by nine branches of the brachial artery, radial artery and ulnar artery, which anastomose at the front and back of the elbow joint.

①The anterior branch of the inferior ulnar collateral artery anastomoses with the anterior branch of the ulnar recurrent artery;

② The posterior branch of the ulnar collateral artery, the superior ulnar collateral artery and the ulnar recurrent artery. Anastomosis of the posterior branch of the artery;

③The radial collateral artery is anastomosed with the radial recurrent artery;

④The middle collateral artery anastomoses with the recurrent interosseous artery of the posterior interosseous artery. The elbow arterial network constitutes a rich collateral circulation pathway around the elbow joint.
