Neurodermatitis on the eyelids

Neurodermatitis on the eyelids

When a circle of very clear texture appears on the eyelids accompanied by white psoriasis, it is likely that you have a disease called neurodermatitis. Neurodermatitis is easy to identify. If you find that the skin on your eyelids is thickened and purple in color, you are likely to be ill. Neurodermatitis is a disease that will recur, and it can be treated through diet, medication, etc.

Eyelid neurodermatitis is a special phenotype of neurodermatitis, which is prone to recurrence. This is determined by the characteristics of the disease itself, but recurrence can be reduced through reasonable treatment.

Symptoms

Drug therapy Drug therapy is divided into systemic medication and local medication. Systemic medications include antihistamines such as chlorpheniramine, cyproheptadine, and ebastine, as well as autonomic nervous system modulators such as vitamin B and oryzanol. Topical medications are mostly topical glucocorticoid preparations. This type of drug is currently the most important means of treating neurodermatitis.

There are many types of topical glucocorticoids. How to choose safe and effective glucocorticoids to treat eyelid neurodermatitis has a great impact on the efficacy. Glucocorticoids can be broadly divided into two categories: fluoride-containing and non-fluoride-containing.

Fluoride-containing glucocorticoids have a rapid onset of action and strong effects, but are more likely to cause drug dependence and skin pigmentation; fluoride-free glucocorticoids have weaker effects, but relatively fewer adverse reactions.

The halcinonide used is clofosinate, which is a fluorinated glucocorticoid with good efficacy, but there is a problem of drug dependence and it is easy to relapse after stopping the drug. Therefore, non-fluorinated glucocorticoids can be used instead.

Other treatments

Physical therapy includes ultraviolet light, helium-neon laser irradiation, liquid nitrogen freezing, magnetic therapy and mineral spring therapy.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatments include Chinese medicine treatments that have the functions of dispelling wind, activating blood circulation, removing dampness and relieving itching, as well as acupuncture or injection of acupoints.

Therefore, it is recommended that patients understand the cause of the disease according to their own situation, try to eliminate the pathogenic factors, avoid scratching the affected area, switch to fluoride-free topical glucocorticoids, and if conditions permit, combine physical therapy and traditional Chinese medicine.
